When it comes to prodigies that exist in the world of Naruto, few come close to the level that Itachi Uchiha displayed throughout his life as a ninja. Itachi was an incredible shinobi right from the get-go. Even before he went on to become a full-fledged ninja, it was quite clear to see that he was destined for greatness, and that is precisely why even among the Uchiha, he was considered special when he was a child. Itachi's talent was such that even the legendary Sannin couldn't help but notice his presence, and his powers were so impressive that he went on to surpass them before even maturing as a ninja. Quite easily, Itachi was the biggest prodigy that the Uchiha clan had seen since Madara, and that goes to say a lot about the talent that he possessed.
Now, however, in the new era of the Boruto series, there is a new Uchiha that could have the potential to surpass even Itachi Uchiha and all the others who came before him, and that is none other than Sasuke's very own daughter, Sarada Uchiha. Sarada is incredibly talented and has a very high ceiling, which she will be hoping to reach at the end of the Boruto series.
Itachi Uchiha Is One Of The Biggest Geniuses Of All Time
The Genius Hokage Level Child Prodigy
Itachi Uchiha was quite a special ninja, and this was evident from his time in the Academy. He did not have the temperament for being a leader, but he most certainly possessed tremendous talent. Even as a kid, Itachi was strong enough to beat the adults of the Naruto world. In fact, once he awakened his Sharingan, he was so strong that he was practically worthy of being a leader in the ANBU, Konoha's special black ops. More than that, Itachi's wisdom was such that, by the age of seven, he had already reached the level of a Hokage. That goes to show how talented he truly was.
Quite clearly, Itachi was a generational ninja the likes of which wouldn't be seen for a very long time in the future. Once Itachi awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan, he went on to reach sky-high levels of power that eclipsed even those of the Legendary Sannin as well as the Kage of Konoha. Itachi had the legendary abilities of Tsukuyomi, with which he could cast a space-time genjutsu, and, of course, the Amaterasu, which could burn down anything with inextinguishable flames. Itachi's Susanoo also possessed the invincible weapons of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. All in all, Itachi possessed enough skill to be labelled as the strongest of his era, and had his illness not consumed him, then he could have truly gone on to reach unprecedented levels of power even among the Uchiha clan.

Sarada Uchiha Has A Higher Ceiling Than Itachi
Sarada's Power Level Is Already Scarily High
While it goes without saying that Itachi possesses tremendous talent, the fact is that Sarada has just as much talent as him, if not even more. In the modern era of the world of ninja, Sarada Uchiha shines as one of the brightest next-generation ninjas, and she aims to become the Hokage of her village. Sarada's goal is quite ambitious, given that she has to follow in the footsteps of Naruto Uzumaki, and that already requires her to reach a very high level of power. However, more than that, fans know that she has the skill to truly attain that title.
As an Uchiha, Sarada is blessed with the legendary Sharingan, just like Itachi. However, in her case, the Mangekyo Sharingan appears to be even more overpowered. Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan was recently unleashed in the Boruto series, and it is quite clear to the fans to see that her abilities are truly groundbreaking.

Simply put, Sarada can use her eyes to create black holes with a jutsu known as Ohirume. This ability allows her to create up to four black holes that she can fully control in terms of size and power. The bigger the black hole, the stronger the gravitational pull. Sarada can fully control what can and cannot be pulled in by her black holes. These black holes possess gravity so strong that they can essentially go on to crush anyone, even as strong as an Otsutsuki. In many ways, Sarada's raw power is already above the level of Itachi Uchiha, but her overall skill is not on that level yet. That said, Sarada's ceiling is incredibly high, and if she is to become the Hokage, she truly has to go beyond the level of Itachi.

Sarada Will Establish A Great Legacy For Herself
At this point, fans already know that Sarada will go on to become the Hokage of Konoha. Be it the Eighth Hokage or the Ninth Hokage, Sarada will go on to take this position for herself, and that already means that she will be considered a legend of the new era. As such, it has already been established in the Boruto series that Sarada will go on to reach heights that even Itachi did not reach, and that truly is very exciting.
Sarada might not have been as big a genius as Itachi, but her Mangekyo Sharingan is certainly more overpowered. Just like Itachi, she truly is a kind-hearted Uchiha. Sarada is one of the very few not to be affected by the curse of hatred that comes with the Sharingan, and that makes her a worthy successor to Itachi's throne.
Itachi Is More Loved Than Sarada
Nobody Can Truly Dethrone Itachi Uchiha
All that said, at the end of the day, Itachi Uchiha will always be more loved than her. This is a simple fact that all Naruto fans understand, and it's because Naruto is a more iconic series than Boruto. There is not a single Boruto character that can hold a candle to the level of character writing that Kishimoto delivered in the original series. Itachi Uchiha is one of his best-written characters, and for anyone to reach that level of complexity in the Boruto series is practically impossible. Sarada can certainly go on to surpass him in terms of talent, skill, and even power, but when it comes to being a compelling character, no individual in Boruto, be it Sarada or the protagonist, can hold a candle to Itachi.
