Naruto is one of the biggest shonen manga and anime series of all time. Its fame is on the same level as manga giants like Dragon Ball and One Piece. Kishimoto has, undoubtedly, created a story that fans will still relish decades from now.
However, with Naruto’s conclusion over ten years ago, it has left quite a massive gap. Naruto did get a sequel, covering the story of Naruto’s son, Boruto. But, the Boruto series is quite controversial, to say the least.
The Boruto series struggles to live up to its predecessor's level, and it splits opinion among the fans, which has been quite apparent. Not all fans are convinced about the quality of Two Blue Vortex, and recent numbers have shown just how much this series is struggling.
Boruto Sales Are Struggling Again

Boruto definitely enjoys the advantage of being tied to the Naruto series, but even then, it struggles to deliver impressive numbers.
Boruto sales were actually not all that bad at first. The story did decent numbers at the beginning when major characters like Naruto and Sasuke were deeply involved in the plot. But, fans have been losing interest slowly, especially since they were cut out of the story.
Boruto, even with Two Blue Vortex taking over, has been struggling to surpass 100k sales. And the latest volume, Volume 5, is doing quite badly. It currently has around 76k volumes in circulation, and is only gaining about 10k more every week.

Sales only seem to be decreasing, and the only thing that could really save the story is the return of Naruto and Sasuke. Or, perhaps, the anime’s return could also help boost manga sales, whenever it makes a comeback.
