For Naruto Uzumaki, the battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki proved to be vital, as it was here that he had to sacrifice Kurama's power to defeat him. Naruto lost Kurama in this battle and got incredibly weak. Meanwhile, Sasuke Uchiha also lost his Rinnegan after the battle, thanks to Momoshiki Otsutsuki stabbing his eye. This made it incredibly easy for Boruto Uzumaki to surpass him.

Naruto and Sasuke Are Still Stronger In Their Primes
The Duo Is Untouchable In Strength
It goes without saying that Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are not very strong right now in Boruto. That said, in their primes, they're still unsurpassed. At the peak of his powers, Naruto was far stronger than Boruto is right now, and the same applies to Sasuke Uchiha as well. They're both incredibly strong at their peaks. That's not to say that Boruto Uzumaki cannot reach their level. There is every chance that he can do that. However, at the moment, he still pales in comparison to their prime versions.
