This article contains spoilers from the Naruto series.
The Naruto series has seen the rise and fall of plenty of powerful ninjas over the years, and the Hokage have almost always established themselves at the very top of the pack. The Hokage is the leader of the Village Hidden in the Leaves, and fans know them to be the strongest of the lot. Ever since the creation of Konoha, THE village has seen the rise of seven different Hokage, with Naruto Uzumaki being the latest one of the lot.
Boruto: Best Fights In The Anime, Ranked
The Boruto series is laced with riveting battles and thrilling fights. Here's a look at some of the best ones in the anime.
Each Hokage has influenced their era in different ways, and it goes without saying that they have all contributed greatly to the ninja world. Above all, the Hokage are known to be respected for their tremendous strength through which they protect their loved ones as well as every other individual in the village residing under their protection. The Hokage almost always maintained the position of the strongest, but that seems to have changed now. Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto have together ensured that the Hokage has been surpassed in the Boruto era by a new ninja, and that is none other than the son of the Hokage itself, Boruto Uzumaki.
Naruto Was The Strongest At The End Of The Original Story
- Naruto tamed Kurama completely
- He gained the Six Paths Powers from Hagoromo
Naruto's rise to the position of Seventh Hokage was quite exciting for the fans to witness. Although he started his ninja journey as someone without any power and a monstrous beast sealed inside him that only wanted to do him harm, by the end of it, Naruto tamed the beast and conquered all his weaknesses, becoming the best version of himself.
Naruto earned the acknowledgement of everyone and, in the Fourth Great Ninja War, saved the world from doom. This is precisely why Naruto became the strongest shinobi in the whole world. By the end of the original story, a few years after the war, Naruto ascended to the position of Hokage as soon as Kakashi stepped down.
Quite clearly, Naruto Uzumaki accomplished great things, and he did so with the tremendous powers that he trained relentlessly for. Naruto had access to Sage Mode, thanks to his training with Fukasaku, following the death of Jiraiya. Later down the line, he forged a bond with Kurama, as well as the other Tailed Beasts. Naruto also received a gift from Hagoromo Otsutsuki, and all these things combined made him the strongest ninja of his time. After Naruto became the Seventh Hokage, he reigned supreme as the strongest shinobi in the whole world, the likes of which could not be rivaled even by some Otsutsuki.
The Seventh Hokage Has Been Surpassed By Boruto Uzumaki
- Naruto lost all powers in Boruto
- Boruto Uzumaki has trained to surpass Naruto already
While the Seventh Hokage was certainly at the top of his era in the original story, things are quite different in Boruto. Naruto Uzumaki has had to face a lot of obstacles in the new era, such as the arrival of stronger Otsutsuki, as well as an organization known as Kara, among other things. Some of these obstacles were easy for him to deal with, but some others proved to be quite challenging. In doing so, Naruto ended up losing his biggest power, and that is Kurama. Without Kurama, it seems that Naruto is unable to access the powers of Six Paths Sage Mode as well, and that essentially weakens him tremendously.
Say Hello To The New Naruto Uzumaki Of Konoha In Boruto
Naruto Uzumaki's true heir has been revealed. This character will rise to become the new Naruto Uzumaki.
Naruto was still the Hokage despite losing his powers, but it was clear to see that he was far from his peak. Shortly after, Naruto Uzumaki was sealed by Kawaki, and that was the last time the fans saw him. To this day, Naruto remains sealed, while the world has moved ahead, given that a three-year time skip took place following the end of the first part of Boruto. In this three-year time, many powerful ninjas have emerged, and some have even gone on to surpass Naruto. Boruto Uzumaki is the prime example of that.
Boruto Uzumaki Trained Under Sasuke Uchiha
Boruto was trained by Sasuke for one year following the sealing of Naruto Uzumaki. During this time, Boruto learned all the jutsu of the Uchiha that he possibly could, and then went on to train these arts to the absolute maximum level. He then met Koshin Koji and, together with him, Boruto went on to learn some of the most powerful techniques that different versions of him utilized in different timelines.
The era of Shinobi is over. But, I am still a shinobi! — Boruto Uzumaki, Prologue
Right now, Boruto Uzumaki stands tall as one of the strongest ninjas of all time. This is especially the case after Boruto struck a deal with Momoshiki, allowing him to make use of the Otsutsuki Karma by offering his own body up in exchange. Given that Boruto has access to Momoshiki's powers and, on top of that, his own incredible strength, he is leagues above the Seventh Hokage right now and stands tall as the strongest ninja in the world.
Kawaki Has Also Pulled Ahead Of Naruto
Another individual who has pulled ahead of Naruto Uzumaki is his adopted son, Kawaki. Fans would remember that Kawaki was a scientific marvel that Amado had reconstructed from scratch. At the same time, he was trained to be the vessel of Isshiki. After the death of the latter, Kawaki still retained his Karma. Now, after the timeskip, Kawaki has mastered the powers of the Karma, and he is one of the strongest characters in the whole world.
The only distinction between him and Boruto is that Kawaki isn't a real ninja. Kawaki doesn't believe in the ninja way, and that is precisely why, later down the line, he goes on to play a significant role in the destruction of the Shinobi kind, with Boruto labeling himself as the “Last Shinobi.”
Naruto Uzumaki's Next Power Up Will be Vital
- Fans expect Naruto to return soon
- Right now, Naruto is far from coming back
Sad as it is to see, Naruto Uzumaki has clearly been outclassed and surpassed by many characters in the Boruto series, and much of that is down to the terrible handling of the character in this sequel story. Fans can only hope that Kishimoto decides to bring Naruto back soon enough, and when he does, he gives him some power-ups that are worthy of him.
I am the Hokage. The whole village is my family and mine to protect. — Naruto Uzumaki
With these new power-ups, Naruto Uzumaki would once again rise to the top and establish dominance over the enemies that seek to do harm to his village. After all, that is his duty as the Hokage, and fans can hope that Kishimoto doesn't take that away from him. Naruto has already suffered quite a lot in Boruto, and it is time for him to get back to his best.
