Although Naruto cared deeply about Kawaki, the latter took a drastic measure against him which Naruto certainly didn't support at all. In a way, Kawaki sealed Naruto Uzumaki to keep him safe until he hunts down the Otsutsuki, including Boruto. However, fans still didn't like the decision too much. Naruto Uzumaki has been trapped in Daikokuten in Two Blue Vortex and will continue to do so for a while. Unfortunately, his return doesn't seem imminent at all.

When Boruto began as a manga, Kawaki clearly said to Boruto that he would send him to the same place where he sent Lord Seventh Hokage, Naruto. In other words, this is a confirmation of the fact that Naruto Uzumaki is still in Daikokuten when Boruto and Kawaki fight.

Will Boruto End When Naruto Returns?
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex could be headed towards its end as soon as the fight between Kawaki and Boruto ends. Given that the previous series had about 80 chapters, fans know that Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will feature something similar, and, in other words, Naruto won't return until the end of the story. That said, there is always a possibility of expansion of the plot happening, which, if true, would give Naruto a prominent role once he returns after Kawaki and Boruto settle their differences.
