Himawari is one of the most promising next-generation ninjas in the Boruto series. With Kurama fighting by her side, she has what it takes to stand up against Jura and the Shinju Clones, protect her friends, save her village, and restore the Uzumaki household. Gone is the Himawari who needed protection from others, as the current version of herself has grown stronger than ever.
Just like Naruto Uzumaki, Himawari can unlock a new transformation in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex when push comes to shove. Baryon Mode is still too early for Himawari to utilize, but using her Byakugan with Kurama Mode may give her more firepower, not just to prevent her death but also to help Boruto deal with Jura and the Shinju Clones. Boruto gained access to Byakugan in Boruto: TBV Chapter 29, so it’s probably the perfect time for Himawari to activate Byakugan and combine it with Kurama Mode knowingly.

Himawari Will Activate Byakugan
Himawari Is Getting Used to Her Powers

The Byakugan showed up in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 29 after Boruto Uzumaki activated Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s Byakugan while fighting Mamushi’s Division clones. While this is the first time Boruto has used the Byakugan in the manga, Himawari unlocked the dojutsu back when she was just around three years old. Back then, she activated Byakugan unknowingly and out of anger due to Boruto’s foolishness.
From then on, Himawari has never activated the Byakugan again in the manga, despite using it multiple times in the anime adaptation. In the Boruto anime, not only did Himawari use the Byakugan in saving Shukaku, but she also activated it in her fight with Hana-sensei. Like Hinata, she has veins bulging at her temples while Byakugan is active. Unfortunately, the Boruto manga series has never shown Himawari tapping into the Byakugan again for some reason.

Despite this, Himawari is getting better and better with her training with Kurama in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. While she is just getting used to her powers, there’s a strong chance she will activate Byakugan, especially in the heat of an intense battle with Jura, Mamushi, or any other Shinju Clone that will test her abilities. If Boruto can use Byakugan now, it might just be a matter of time before Himawari activates the dojutsu again.
Himawari’s Next Transformation Could Be Byakugan Kurama Mode
Himawari and Kurama’s Compatibility Is Near Perfect
In the past, Naruto Uzumaki had some troubles with the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode due to his imperfect bond with Kurama, resulting in limitations on his transformation. This time, in Himawari’s case, gaining access to Kurama Mode may give her a free pass, considering she is the direct incarnation of the Nine Tails. In addition, her bond with Kurama is near-perfect, potentially giving her easy access to Kurama Mode.
Himawari has been training with Kurama nonstop, especially after her heated confrontation with Jura in Konoha. The rate of her growth is unprecedented, seeing how she could unleash tailed beast bombs in quick succession, on top of healing her wounds and extending the effects to Inojin Yamanaka. With this pacing, Himawari could unlock Kurama Mode faster than expected.

Meanwhile, Himawari’s Byakugan should get the exposure it deserves in the Boruto manga sooner or later. If she could use Byakugan knowingly, she could combine it with Kurama Mode, placing her above Kage-level and comparable to an Otsutsuki.
Himawari Will Surpass Naruto Uzumaki
It’s no secret that Naruto Uzumaki is not in his prime anymore, especially after losing Kurama and being reduced to a sealed ninja in the Daikokuten dimension, where there’s no hope for him to grow stronger in secret. His power level has dropped, allowing Boruto Uzumaki to surpass him whether fans like it or not.
On the other hand, Himawari is on the right path to surpass Naruto. While she lacks the Otsutsuki abilities that Boruto gained through Momoshiki and the power upgrades Kashin Koji helped him achieve, her potential as a Tailed Beast with the Byakugan is undeniable. Sooner or later, Himawari will surpass Naruto, unless someone gets in the way and kills her in the process.
