The following article contains spoilers for Naruto and Boruto.
Summary
- Himawari is the new Jinchuriki with Nine Tails powers, hinting at future potential.
- Himawari could awaken significant Hyuga powers and surpass Boruto in abilities.
- Himawari's potential as the Ten Tails could impact the series against Otsutsuki threats.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is now in the midst of an incredible battle between Boruto Uzumaki and Jura, which could potentially shape the future of the series. Although Jura currently has the upper hand, fans are confident that Boruto will somehow react. Or perhaps Mitsuki will intervene and change the course of the battle.
While it is thrilling to see Boruto in action, Boruto: TBV took an unexpected turn when Himawari Uzumaki was established as the new Jinchuriki. This development took many fans by surprise, but it could be welcomed if it establishes Himawari as a decisive character in the future.
Boruto: Kishimoto Has Already Set Up A Tailed Beast Power Up For Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto Uzumaki has a huge power up in store. It all has to do with the power of the tailed beasts in Boruto.
Himawari as The New Jinchuriki
In the first chapters of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it is revealed that Himawari is the new Jinchuriki of the Nine Tails. Kurama seemed unsure why this happened, but hinted that it may be because Himawari inherited chakra from Naruto Uzumaki. In this sense, it's great that Ikemoto chose her and not Boruto to be the new Jinchuriki, as he would become annoyingly overpowered.
However, death is not eternal for us Biju. Even if our flesh or soul perishes, over time a kernel of us will sprout somewhere and we will manage to return to life. (...) No one knows how long it will take, or where it might sprout. Much less that it would be inside his daughter and this soon... The universe is full of mysteries. You may have been born inheriting a sliver of my chakra or this was your destiny, brought into being by the Uzumaki and Hyuga blood that flows within you. Well, since it's already happened, the how doesn't matter.
— Nine Tails in Boruto TBV Chapter 10
Himawari has yet to discover all that she can do with Kurama's powers. However, she must first handle the Human God Trees, since Jura is after her. There is a remote possibility that she will end up sealed inside a Divine Tree. For now, however, it seems that Himawari will be able to escape Jura — or perhaps even face him.
Since Kurama doesn't seem to comprehend how this has happened, the series may delve further into this mystery later. What is clear for now is that Himawari has the potential to awaken great powers in the future.
Himawari and the "Comeback" of the Hyuga Clan
With Himawari holding the powers of Kurama, Boruto could explore something that Naruto overlooked: the potential of the Hyuga clan and, specifically, the Byakugan. Boruto has focused extensively on the Otsutsuki clan, which seem likely to become the main antagonists in the future, and Himawari could play a major role in this battle.
The franchise has deeply explored the Uchiha and the Uzumaki clans, but the Hyuga clan also descends from the Otsutsuki clan. With Kurama, Himawari could awaken powers related to her Hyuga-Otsutsuki ancestry. This could be perfect to introduce an evolution for the Byakugan, like an "inverted-Tenseigan" or something else. The Sharingan overshadowed the Byakugan in Naruto, so now is the time to make the Byakugan more interesting.
Himawari and the Ten Tails
Naruto Uzumaki had the chakra of the Nine Tails inside him, which he acquired during the original series. In fact, a spin-off states that he is a ten-tailed Jinchuriki. If Himawari could inherit the Nine-Tails' chakra, could she also inherit the others'? Furthermore, Himawari has both Hamura and Hagoromo ancestry, as she is both a Hyuga and an Uzumaki by blood.
Because of that, many fans speculate that she is or will become the Ten Tails at some point in the series. There are actually many ways to explain how Himawari could be the ten tails, as she is a good candidate to have compatibility with the chakra of nine Tailed Beasts. Something like this could be revealed when the relationship between the Otsutsuki and the Ten Tails is explored further — it would impact both Himawari and the story.
Himawari Could Make The Difference
With such potential, Himawari could be key in the fight against the Otsutsuki in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. While Boruto inherited Otsutsuki abilities, it seems he alone will be no match for a potential Otsutsuki final antagonist. As both Kawaki and Boruto are after the Otsutsuki, there is a huge possibility that they will end up being the final villains. It could be through Akebi or something else, but it seems hard to imagine that the series will just leave the Otsutsuki lore behind when there is still much to explain about them.
Sarada Uchiha will definitely play an important role in the series because she has already shown that she is incredibly powerful. However, Himawari awakening massive powers with Kurama's help could defy Eida's Omnipotence and return the world to normal — Hyuga-related powers could play a role here. If Himawari is the Ten-Tails, that would open up even more possibilities. For instance, Himawari doesn't seem affected by Omnipotence, as she doesn't blame Boruto for anything. While this alone could be related to her Otsutsuki ancestry, it could also be a hint that she will play a major role in dispelling this technique. Some fans even speculate that "Two Blue Vortex" is a reference to both Boruto and Himawari being major characters in the series, as the Uzumaki clan symbol resembles a vortex (the most common interpretation is that Kawaki and Boruto are the "Two Blue Vortex").
