One of the greatest events that took place in the Naruto series was the Fourth Great Ninja War. This war was quite easily the biggest part of the entire series. In fact, it spanned over half of the second part of the Naruto series and delivered the biggest fights and the most intense action as well. The Fourth Great Ninja War was fought not among the shinobi nations, but against an enemy that they had to unite against. All the shinobi nations were pulled together to confront the threat of the Akatsuki, who wanted to revive the Ten-Tails for the Eye of the Moon plan.

To protect Naruto Uzumaki, and Killer B, and annihilate the Akatsuki once and for all, a ninja war broke out, the likes of which had never been seen before. Now, in the Boruto series, which is set over a decade later, the threat of another ninja war looms over the world, and this one could be the Fifth Great Ninja War.

Why The Fifth Great Ninja War Is Possible In Boruto

A War Bigger Than The Fourth Great War

Fifth Great Ninja War Boruto

When speaking of ninja wars, it would seem almost impossible for another one to break out in the Boruto series. After all, the Fourth Great Ninja War saw to it that the 5 Great Villages united once and for all, and that small wars would now be avoided forever. At the same time, the threat of the Akatsuki was dealt with as well, which meant that there was no more reason for a war to be fought in the first place. However, even if the ninja villages have banded together, the fact remains that there are enemies that could destroy the world in the current Boruto era, and they need to be stopped. To eliminate these enemies once and for all, a ninja war could very well break out in the Boruto series as well, and this war could be called The Fifth Great Ninja War.

To put it clearly, The Fifth Great Ninja War would follow a similar style to the Fourth Great Ninja War, in the sense that the 5 great shinobi villages would band together against a common threat. This time around, the threat will not be the Akatsuki, given that they don't exist anymore, but instead, the Shinju, who are seemingly going stronger with each passing chapter. The Shinju were created by none other than Code using the power of his Claw Marks. This power was inflicted on the 10 Tails, and it ended up creating Claw Grimes, who sought the nearest source of chakra to feed upon.

The age of shinobi is over, Boruto. — Kawaki

Eventually, after consuming enough chakra, they started growing sentience of their own, and unique versions of humans they feasted on were created. In fact, the 10 Tails itself reincarnated in the form of Jura, who is known to be the strongest of them all. So far, a few of the Shinju have fallen already, but the strongest of them all, Hidari and Jura, still remain, and those two could easily cause chaos on a grand scale.

With the power of the Claw Grimes, at their disposal and an immensely powerful set of abilities, the Shinjuu are almost impossible to take down in battle. If they wanted to, they could swamp the five villages and destroy the shinobi kind for good. The threat of the destruction of the shinobi kind is what could lead to the beginning of the Fifth Great Ninja War in the Boruto series, and that is what makes the plot that much more exciting.

The Age Of Shinobi Will End In The Fifth Great Ninja War

The Shinju Could End Shinobi Forever

When the Boruto series began, a very curious reveal was made by Kishimoto and Ikemoto. It was stated in the very first chapter that the age of Shinobi was officially over. At first, Kawaki was the one who declared it, and Boruto reiterated it, meaning it goes without saying that the Shinobi truly were wiped out in one way or another.

I am still a shinobi! — Boruto Uzumaki

Quite clearly, most fans tend to point fingers at Kawaki, but his only goal is to annihilate the Otsutsuki. As such, he has nothing to do with the destruction of the ninja world. This could be the job of the Shinju, who could have grown so strong that they went on to annihilate everyone in the ninja villages. Their instinct is still growing, and it must be remembered that Shikamaru himself stated that the Shinju are still like children right now. They can be betrayed and defeated at this point in time, but in the future, doing so will be that much more difficult. If the Shinju continue to grow at a rapid pace, then it goes without saying that they can easily destroy the ninja world. To stop the threat of the Shinju, the five villages likely would need to band together and declare what could be a 5th Great Ninja War—only this time it would be fought against these humanoid monsters.

The Boruto Series Will Likely End After The Ninja War

Boruto Series End After The Ninja War

If the Fifth Great Ninja War officially breaks out in the Boruto series, then all the powerful shinobi would line up to fight against these monstrously powerful ninjas, Shinju. This would give plenty of opportunities for every ninja to shine in combat. At the same time, the old characters from the Naruto series who have been neglected would also be given the chance to lead from the front, making things that much more exciting in the end. However, the shinobi kind does suffer a tremendous blow, given the prologue of the series. This is also where Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki end up fighting their last battle, and this fight should put an end to the Boruto series for good.

  • It is only after this war that the likes of Naruto Uzumaki will finally return, but until then, the world will have changed greatly. For now, the Shinju still pose no threat to the integrity of the shinobi kind, but it is only a matter of time before they grow even stronger and their knowledge grows further, and they go on to end the system of shinobi once and for all. A massive war is looming on the shinobi world, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what developments take place in the future.

Last time around, it was Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and all the others who saved the world. This time, however, these legends will likely not lead from the front. It will be up to the next generation of ninjas to step up and show what they are all about, saving the world while fighting these monstrously powerful individuals. Hopefully, the Boruto series is able to deliver a fulfilling conclusion to this exciting plot line.
