Summary

  • Boruto: Two Blue Vortex introduces shinjutsu, including Omnipotence, capable of memory alteration and world creation.
  • Daemon, with blood relation to Eida, and Kawaki, possessing Otsutsuki genes, are immune to Omnipotence.
  • Sarada's immunity to Omnipotence remains a mystery, potentially due to Eida's subconscious desires or unconfirmed reasons.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations had already expanded the franchise’s power ceiling with the introduction of new Otsutsuki members, coupled with all manner of absurdly powerful techniques. However, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has further upped the ante by introducing a new category of god-like techniques called shinjutsu. The most powerful of these is Omnipotence, a technique capable of rewriting memories and creating worlds at the user’s command.

Originally thought to be charm or bedazzlement, Eida’s passive power was later revealed to be a threat of incomprehensible nature. With the entire world currently affected by her power, a handful of characters have been revealed to be immune to the effects of Omnipotence. While some remain unaffected due to clearly defined reasons, others have defied the technique’s memory alteration through unknown means. The number of characters immune to Omnipotence are still under speculation, and only a select few are confirmed to be safe for now in all of Boruto.

Daemon

Immune to Omnipotence Due to Blood Relation to Eida

Daemon strongest taijutsu users Boruto

First Appearance

Boruto, Episode 289 "Qualifications"

Debut Date

February 26, 2023

Apart from the Otsutsuki Clan members and those who boast Otsutsuki DNA, only the caster’s own blood relatives remain immune to the memory rewriting effects of Omnipotence. As Eida’s brother, Daemon naturally remained unaffected by Omnipotence’s powers, be it Eida’s initial charm or the global-scale memory rewriting that took place later on.

There are two types of hearts my ability can't steal. One is blood relatives.

Daemon’s role in the narrative has so far been minimal, though he is surely set to play a crucial role down the line. With his own mysterious technique that reflects all attacks, coupled with complete immunity to Eida’s Omnipotence, Daemon has considerable potential to influence the storyline.

Kawaki

Unaffected Due to Possessing Otsutsuki Genetics

First Appearance

Boruto, Epiosde 1 "Boruto Uzumaki!!"

Debut Date

April 05, 2017

The only ones other than blood-relatives immune to Omnipotence are Otsutsuki or those who have undergone Otsutsukification through a Karma mark. Since Kawaki’s Karma has almost entirely rewritten his DNA with Isshiki’s genes, he is technically a complete Otsutsuki, albeit with his own soul intact. This renders Kawaki entirely immune to Eida’s bedazzlement, or any memory alteration that may stem from the technique.

And the other is... Otsutsuki.

Since Eida’s Omnipotence is merely following Kawaki’s desires, it’s likely that the technique wouldn’t have affected him in the first place. Nevertheless, Kawaki’s Otsutsuki genetics grant him complete protection against any effects of this all-powerful shinjutsu.

Boruto Uzumaki

Immune to Omnipotence Because Of Otsutsuki Genetics

First Appearance

Boruto, Epiosde 1 "Boruto Uzumaki!!"

Debut Date

April 05, 2017

Boruto’s case is similar to Kawaki, as his genetics have been completely overwritten by Momoshiki’s Karma. After Momoshiki sacrificed himself by using the remnants of the Karma to heal Boruto’s body, his soul could no longer take over the vessel’s body.

With the threat of complete Otsutsukification overturned, Boruto now boasts an Otsutsuki body with all of his Karma powers intact. Retaining his Otsutsuki genetics, Boruto is now completely immune to the effects of Eida’s shinjutsu, making him one of the few characters in all of Boruto to achieve this feat.

Sarada Uchiha

Possibly Unaffected Due to Eida’s Desires Or Her Own Kekkei Genkai

First Appearance

Boruto, Epiosde 1 "Boruto Uzumaki!!"

Debut Date

April 05, 2017

Apart from the Otsutsuki members and Karma bearers, Sarada is one of the few characters to be immune to the effects of Omnipotence. Sarada’s case is rather puzzling, as she doesn’t fulfil either condition for protection against the technique’s effects. Until Boruto: Two Blue Vortex confirms the actual reason behind her immunity, Sarada’s unaffected status largely remains a mystery. While some attribute Sarada’s immunity to her Mangekyo Sharingan, the argument holds no merit since Sasuke was still affected by the shinjutsu.

The Boruto manga has an interesting group of antagonists - the Shinju. They might have a new member soon.

It’s likely that Sarada’s immunity stems from Eida’s own subconscious desire to find true friends, which could have altered Omnipotence to exclude her from its effects. A handful of other theories also support Sarada’s current status, such as Otsutsuki chakra being present in her body that she could have inherited from Sasuke’s Six Paths Chakra. However, this theory is rather unlikely, since this would equate to Sasuke himself being immune to Omnipotence. Until the manga confirms this oddity, Sarada’s resistance to Omnipotence is set to remain an obscure matter.

Sumire Kakei

Likely Immune Due to Eida’s Subconscious Desires

Sumire boruto two blue vortex

First Appearance

Boruto, Epiosde 1 "Boruto Uzumaki!!"

Debut Date

April 05, 2017

One unassuming character that has taken a somewhat integral role in the narrative is Sumire. Bearing no link to the Otsutsuki, nor to any Kekkei Genkai stemming from the clan, Sumire’s case of being immune to Omnipotence is all the more perplexing. While Sumire had an entire arc to her name in Boruto’s anime adaptation, the manga rarely expanded on her character. However, she has now become a central character in the narrative, given her status as one of the few humans in the world to be immune to Omnipotence.

It’s likely that Sumire’s case is similar to Sarada, with both characters being unaffected by the shinjutsu due to Eida’s own subconscious desire to find close friends she could trust. However, another theory that supports Sumire's resistance to Omnipotence is her connection to Nue, a summoning implanted in her body using Danzo’s research. The anime arc expands on her origins, stating that Danzo used Otsutsuki techniques to form the curse implanted on her. If the arc were to be considered canon, this explanation could also hold true for Sumire’s peculiar situation.
