Boruto is currently in its second half, called Two Blue Vortex, and each next-generation character that was once raw talent has grown tremendously now. Over the 3-year timeskip, Boruto characters have started to show quite a lot of promise, and some of them have even reached sky-high levels already.
Whereas at one point, there was a debate on whether the Boruto characters could go on to surpass characters from Naruto, now, with each passing chapter, it is looking more and more like a certainty. Still, in a plethora of Boruto characters, there are only a handful who can actually go on to surpass the old generation.
7 Shikadai Nara
Shikadai Nara is the son of Shikamaru, and given that he's blessed with the talents of both his mom and dad, he is a worthy candidate when it comes to suppressing Shikamaru. Shikamaru wasn't the best of Shinobi when it came to combat. His IQ is what he is known for, and that is something that Shikadai excels at as well.
Still, he hasn't received his moment to shine as of yet. However, whatever little focus that he has given has been enough to tell the fans that he holds tremendous potential and that he can go on to surprise his father in more than one way.
6 Chocho Akimichi
Chocho is the daughter of Choji and is certainly a very underrated ninja. Although not many fans pay attention to her abilities, Chocho can actually utilize the Expansion Jutsu of the Akimichi Clan with great proficiency.
If that wasn't enough, then fans should keep in mind that she has strengthened herself greatly over the 3-year timeskip to a point where she can even land attacks on Jura, and Mamushi. Chocho is far from the finished product, however, she can very well go on to surpass Choji.
5 Mitsuki
-
Mitsuki is an individual that fans do not need an introduction to. He's quite powerful and was developed specifically by Orochimaru in an attempt to create the perfect human being. Even though he is a synthetic human, Mitsuki can actually go on to surpass the likes of Orochimaru, and the other Sannin as well. In fact, Orochimaru has explicitly confirmed the fact that he holds enough potential to surpass the Sannin, and he has already reached Great heights, as seen in Two Blue Vortex.

4 Kawaki
Kawaki is already one of the strongest characters in Boruto, especially after the timeskip. He has access to the powers of the Karma, which he appears to have full control over. On top of that, he also has Isshiki's abilities, such as Daikokuten and Sukunahikona.
All these powers put together make Kawaki a monster in combat. At his peak, he will be stronger than Isshiki Otsutsuki, and on a level far above the likes of Naruto characters.
3 Himawari Uzumaki
Himawari didn't play much of a role in the early parts of Boruto. However, right now, she is receiving the much-deserved attention. Himawari was revealed to be one with Kurama very recently, and the fact that Daemon considered her to be a massively overpowered individual just goes to show that she can very well go on to surpass the previous generation of ninjas.
Himawari is still quite young and has a long way to go before she reaches her prime as a ninja, however, fans can rest assured that she is on the right path already.
2 Sarada Uchiha
Sarada Uchiha is Sasuke and Sakura's daughter, and she has inherited the best of both. Sarada can certainly go on to surpass her parents, and she has to, because the plot demands it. She wants to become the Hokage in the future, and reaching this position requires her to surpass the previous generation.
Sarada still has a long way to go before she gets past either Sakura or Sasuke. However, she certainly has the potential to do it, especially after she has awakened her Mangekyo Sharingan.
1 Boruto Uzumaki
Boruto Uzumaki is the strongest ninja in the Naruto franchise at this point in time, and he has matured tremendously over the years. Boruto was trained by Sasuke during the timeskip of the series, and right now, he has reached a point where he can even take down enemies as strong as Code or the Shinju within the blink of an eye.
From the previous generation, aside from Naruto's Baryon Mode, he has already surpassed every other ninja. What's more, Boruto is far from his full power, given that there is still the aspect of the Karma that he has barely been utilizing after the timeskip. At his best, he will most likely be a god-level ninja.
