The Boruto series continues at a blistering pace, and over the last few months, it has done incredibly well to establish the threat posed by the newest enemy group. The Naruto franchise has never had a shortage of powerful villain groups, and the newest one seems to be the most dangerous of them all, with strength far surpassing even the likes of the Akatsuki.
Once again, Konoha, the strongest village of them all, is at the center of things in the Boruto series, and it has come under attack from the mighty Shinju. For the first time in 18 years, since Pain utterly destroyed the village, Konoha faces an existential crisis, this time being led by Shinju Mamushi. The future must be greatly changed in order to avert a complete disaster and the destruction of the village.
Naruto Vs Pain Was The Last Big Battle In Konoha
Ever since its establishment at the hands of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha, Konoha has seen many massive battles break out, but none was as big as the one that was fought between Pain and Naruto Uzumaki. Before Naruto's arrival, the Six Paths of Pain ran rampant in Konoha, which single-handedly destroyed the whole village. In fact, had it not been for Tsunade, Pain would have killed the entire population of the village with his tremendous powers, taking out both the mighty shinobi and the civilians in the process.
Naruto later on fought against Pain and ended up successfully defeating him, and it was thanks to his conviction that Pain managed to bring back the many that he had killed in the assault on the village. Quite clearly, this was the biggest battle that Konoha ever seen. Even the Fourth Great Ninja War that took place in the Naruto world did not directly affect Konoha, because the battlefield was set somewhere else entirely. Konoha was largely untouched in the war and was relatively safe.

Mamushi's Attack Brings War To Konoha After 18 Years

Currently, in the Boruto series, Konoha faces an existential threat once again as Mamushi has invaded the village. Mamushi's target is none other than Eida, whom he wants to consume to satiate his desires. Konoha is currently protecting Eida, and all the shinobi of the village are currently engaging Mamushi and his various clones in one way or another.
It's Time To Admit That Naruto Uzumaki Should Not Be Konoha's Hokage
Naruto was the strongest Hokage to ever live, but this position ruined him.
In Boruto's recent chapter, Shikamaru shifted the strategy completely by utilizing Eida as bait. The goal is to assemble all the Mamushi clones in one place and then take them head-on. This means that the likes of Boruto, Kawaki, Sarada, and just about everyone else in the village will now pool together their strength to fight the threat of Mamushi. If they fail, Konoha will essentially be destroyed, and the future of the ninja world will change forever.

For the first time in 18 years, Konoha could be destroyed. In the future, Kashin Koji clearly sees that Eida is successfully consumed by Mamushi, and Himawari is dead as well. This means that the likes of Daemon, Kawaki, Boruto, and Sarada failed to deal with the threat of Mamushi and the Shinju. Large-scale destruction takes place in Konoha, and the village is left in utter ruins once again after 18 years, following the assault of Pain.

To change the fate that Konoha and some of the beloved characters, such as Eida and Himawari, will suffer, Kashin Koji has tried to alter the future greatly. He has already done enough in that regard. It is now up to the Shinobi to fight to their utmost best and create a different future for Konoha. Whether they will be able to do that or not remains to be seen.

In order to defeat Mamushi, they need to put out their very best abilities and hit him with them. Mamushi can rapidly divide without any limits, which means large-scale attacks are needed to take him out in one fell swoop. The next months will determine the fate of not just Himawari and Eida but the entirety of Konoha, as the fans hold their breath.
