Borderlands fans looking to unlock some free loot are in luck, as there's a new redeemable SHiFT code. The new code can be redeemed for 3 Golden Keys in nearly every Gearbox Borderlands game to date.
When Borderlands games are still relatively new releases, SHiFT codes tend to be plentiful. With Gearbox Games now preparing for the release of Borderlands 4, which is set to arrive in September, it's a good time for fans to revisit older titles and refresh their arsenal while they're at it.
Borderlands 4 Has Some Serious Destiny Vibes
Borderlands 4's latest deep dive gameplay trailer proves that the looter-shooter shares more than its genre with Bungie's Destiny 2.
Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, has shared a new SHiFT code with fans: S6X33-K5CF3-JJBJB-JTTBJ-6CZB3. This SHiFT code unlocks three golden keys in most of Gearbox's Borderlands games, including Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands 3, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Once redeemed on the Gearbox website, players can boot up any of these games and claim the keys, which can be used to open the Golden chests in Fyrestone, Sanctuary, Concordia, or Brighthoof, depending on the title being played. The value of the gear is randomized, but the maximum quality also differs across games.
Borderlands 4 is Now On the Approach
It's been nearly six years since Borderlands 3 reached audiences, and fans of the crude-humor looter shooter are more than ready for a new game. Borderlands 4 is, of course, bringing new vault hunters to play as, but it's also shaking up a lot of other elements of the series that have been a constant. Borderlands 4 will send players to a new large planet, Kairos, which should not only provide fans with ample exploration, but should also look pretty impressive, as Borderlands 4 utilizes Unreal Engine 5.
However, there are also some changes that have concerned fans. Borderlands 4 will change drop rates, which the game's creative director has said the alterations should make the loot chase the "most satisfying" it's ever been. The recent State of Play also left fans curious about Borderlands 4's UI, with some claiming it looked boring in comparison to prior entries in the franchise.
While Borderlands 3 performed well overall, it couldn't match the reception of Borderlands 2. Initial performance issues, as well as a story and new characters that left players with mixed opinions, marred the overall experience. It remains to be seen whether Borderlands 4 will be a return to form or even surpass the experience that fans have come to know and love, but in the meantime, they can revisit the classics and score some new goodies.
