A new speedrunning glitching technique called cricket jumping catches the attention of Borderlands 4's creative director, who provides an update on whether it's something that will be patched out. Although Borderlands 4 has had a very positive launch, it hasn't been free of technical issues and other difficulties as well.

Thanks to strong critical reviews, Borderlands 4 has set a big sales milestone for Gearbox Software, selling 2.5 million copies in under two weeks' time. However, for as strong of a start as that has been, Borderlands 4 has seen its fair share of difficulties and performance problems, especially with PC players. In fact, tensions became somewhat heated between Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford and some vocal members of the community that the former encouraged unhappy players to request a refund. Still, there are plenty of players running around Borderlands 4's open world, with some even discovering an interesting movement technique.

Borderlands 4 Players Want One Major Change to World Bosses

Players battling World Bosses in Borderlands 4 notice a frustrating issue, with many calling on Gearbox to add a feature to prevent it from happening.

Borderlands 4 Creative Director Addresses "Cricket Jumping" Glitch

Moving to a new location called Kairos, Borderlands 4 gives players a massive open world to explore and then arming them with new movement techniques, a grapple feature, and a vehicle to use. Some players have discovered a movement glitch which has been dubbed "Cricket Jumping", which allows them to fly over massive portions of the map. While fun to utilize, especially for those speedrunning the game, it's clearly not an intended feature of the game and many have begun to wonder if Gearbox would ultimately patch it out.

A post from AdmiralBahroo, which shows Cricket Jumping in action, caught the attention of Borderlands 4 Creative Director Graeme Timmins, who responded directly to the footage. Timmins admitted that he's aware of the glitch, but for now, Gearbox isn't planning on fixing it. The big issue that the team is keeping an eye on is that Cricket Jumping can cause potential instability and other behind-the-scenes technical issues. Timmins acknowledges the team isn't looking to ruin a player's fun, but when it comes to game stability, especially in multiplayer sessions, they may need to act.

claptrap with a skull

Fans have already attempted to "break" the game in various ways, most of which don't cause any technical harm to the experience. For example, class builds are always a big focus of RPGs like the Borderlands games as players try and figure out which skills and characters are the strongest. While there have been no shortage of strong builds, like Vex's Blood Letter setup, one fan managed to put together something a little different. Rafa's Peacebreaker cannons in Borderlands 4 are so strong that there's a new build guide that essentially makes it so players never have to shoot a gun.
