Borderlands 4 associate creative director Grant Kao gives fans a small preview of what the team is aiming to adjust inside of the next big game update. Gearbox continues to iterate on Borderlands 4, slowly releasing big new updates that tackle numerous elements, from bug fixes and quality of life improvements, to adding new content as well.
Since launch, Gearbox has opted not to release too many updates, prioritizing emergency bug and technical fixes rather than making adjustments to the core gameplay. One major Borderlands 4 update has arrived and instead of tearing down powerful builds, Gearbox has instead buffed underperforming and lesser used abilities for each Vault Hunter. While that strategy has, no doubt, been a welcome one for players, that policy may be changing as soon as the next big update.

Borderlands 4 Teases Next Update Details
Taking to social media, associate creative director Grant Kao gave fans an update on plans for the next major Borderlands 4 patch. Without any specific dates, Kao revealed that he's been working with Graeme Timmins on what to target in the game, with the recursive behaviors of a few passive abilities being highlighted in particular. Alongside this, the update will also seemingly aim to "increase the value" of some Legendary pistols in Borderlands 4, while also giving assault rifles a "chance to shine."
Passive skills are a key component for all Vault Hunter trees, though there are some that shine just a bit brighter, especially ones that have recurring effects or something that can trigger or impact enemies in a way that stacks. One of the most high profile Borderlands 4 builds is Crit Knife with Vex, something that takes advantage of her Bloodletter ability to essentially cause massive bleed damage through recursive stacking. While Kao didn't specifically call out Crit KNife by name, fans should probably expect to see this build modified in some capacity once the next major update arrives.
IN fact, Bloodletter was in the news recently as Gearbox confirmed that the Vex build was accidentally nerfed in Borderlands 4 as the skill was no longer behaving as a status effect. It's possible a potential fix for this behavior is included inside the aforementioned update, since one of the key ingredients is a Throwing Knife with a Penetrator Augment to enable that boss melting recursive effect.
