Borderlands 4 players who are ready to take on Vile Lictor may have bitten off more than they can chew when they started their assault on the Umbral Foundry within the main mission "His Vile Sanctum". For the players who may have gone off too quickly, or fast-traveled away from the mission, they might have soft-locked themselves out of progressing through. Below, we've outlined the His Vile Sanctum glitch that you will want to avoid, along with how you can fix it to ensure you're not being prevented from completing this story mission so you can kick Vile Lictor's butt.
How to Get Back Into Vile Lictor's Fortress, Umbral Foundry
His Vile Sanctum Quest Bug Fix, Explained
The video above will showcase where you need to go to fix this glitch, but we've also added images of the exact location to visit, found below!
After players progress into the His Vile Sanctum quest and reach the part where they've destroyed the limiters with Bruce and now must take cover with him, they will be teleported into a cave, where they can navigate through the system to reach the inside of Vile Lictor's Fortress. However, if players decide to use fast travel or quit out of the game during this segment, or before they actually enter the loading screen of Umbral Foundry, they might have locked themselves out of completing the quest. Luckily, there's an easy fix to get back into Vile Lictor's Fortress.
All players will need to do is return to the Substation Canonary, a Point of Interest in the Stoneblood Forest, to the left of Vile Lictor's Fortress. Players can then run through the Substation Canonary through the same path they took with Bruce, where, at the end, they will find a rift that can be interacted with via the grapple hook to pull themselves back inside. Now, you can navigate through the caves and reach Vile Lictor's Fortress. Now, players can follow the steps that involve taking Bruce's core to a computer to activate Bruce Bombs, which can be thrown at the purple barriers that block the entrance into the Umbral Foundry. Once players have completed His Vile Sanctum, they can return to the Umbral Foundry at any time via the Fast Travel station inside.
