Borderlands 3 has had a few DLCs come out so far, including the recently released Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption. Each DLC offers new experiences and, most importantly, new legendaries for players to farm and test. Thanks to Gearbox figuring out what players are looking for, this range of newer legendary weapons offers huge damage potentials that nobody will want to pass up.

Some of these weapons even have the potential to deal millions of damage. While some of these items can no longer be obtained, it is worthwhile to take a look back at which weapons are worth keeping for future challenges.

Updated March 30, 2022, by Stephen LaGioia: Like its predecessor, Gearbox's third installment of Borderlands has had a significant run, with loads of DLC, limited-time events, and added items fleshing out this already robust romp. Countless weapons (and variations of them) have already filled out the base game, to be sure.

Yet, memorable expansions like Bounty of Blood and Guns, Love, and Tentacles hit gamers with even more guns more to play with, along with some colorful new settings and characters. With such a huge arsenal added (and some making a return, like the classic Unkempt Harold), we thought we'd deck out this list with more of the best legendary guns to be had from Borderlands 3's DLC.

15 Bird Of Prey

Borderlands 3 Bird of Prey legendary sniper stats
  • Added in the Director's Cut DLC
  • Can be earned by redeeming five Vault Keys in the Fallen Heroes Vault Card.
  • 33% chance to spawn homing projectiles over the target when shots find their mark.

This sniper is a marksman's dream, with its steady, swift firing and its rather sharp accuracy to boot. The fairly common summoning of homing shots is very helpful in piling on the damage with this already potent gun. Not only that, but they ensure that some pain will be inflicted, even if players happen to miss their mark with this bulky sniper.

Some players have noted that affixing Zane's skill The Professional, which increases damage and pierces targets with criticals, brings this already strong gun near OP status.

14 Creeping Corruption

Borderlands 3 Creeping Corruption legendary assault rifle stats
  • Added in the Director's Cut DLC, obtained by redeeming Vault Keys in the Bunker Masters Vault Card.
  • "Corruption" effect that spreads to enemies in its vicinity.
  • Can swap between fully automatic and five-shot bursts.

This rifle is rather unique in that it essentially dishes out its own debuff or elemental effect, "corruption." Not only is this gun powerful, quick-firing, and fairly steady, but its distinct ability to infect targets makes it a killing machine great for crowd control.

Larger crowds are preferable, in fact, as this corruption has the ability to ripple out and hit those nearby. This is quite useful, as it basically bogs these baddies down and makes them easy prey, as they take 33% more damage. This can be amplified too since it stacks up to three times.

13 Unkempt Harold

Borderlands 3 Unkempt Harold legendary pistol stats
  • Added in the Bounty of Blood DLC, and is found randomly but with an increased chance to drop from Bloodsun Canyon's respawnable mini-boss Caber Dowd.
  • Its shots each diverge two times, yielding four extra projectiles upon firing.
  • Deals splash damage.

This fan-favorite pistol makes its emphatic return in BL3, boasting much of the same power and efficiency as it did in its previous outing. Bonuses in splash damage and weapon damage can very much complement the already strong, solid nature of this Torgue blaster.

Just be sure to keep a fairly safe distance when firing, to avoid the splash and get the most out of its splitting projectiles.

12 Kickcharger

Borderlands 3 Kickcharger being shot at robotic foe with green energy beam
  • Added in the Designer's Cut DLC, and has an increased chance to drop within Arms Race.
  • Fires an enemy-piercing beam that can be charged.
  • Comes in any elemental type.

With a unique style that feels more "Doom" than Borderlands, this launcher allows players to get the most out of their sliding action with its chargeable beams of death, with are charged when sliding. With immense power and piercing ability, this thing can melt gaggles up enemies without breaking much of a sweat.

Players can take a few extra seconds to charge absent sliding in order to blast foes with even more damage, making this great for boss-farming and Badass target practice.

11 Blade Fury

Borderlands 3 Blade Fury legendary assault rifle stats
  • Added in the Director's Cut DLC, by redeeming Vault Keys in the Bunker Masters Vault Card.
  • Fires knives that deal both weapon damage and melee damage.
  • Skulls deal splash damage.

True to its name, this distinct Jakobs rifle pelts enemy targets with a barrage of throwing knives (or shooting knives in this case), and can double as a potent melee option.

With the right hybrid or melee build, this strange weapon can truly slice and dice—melting the health of even beefier foes like butter. Just don't expect the most reliable accuracy, as the knives tend to arc a tad.

10 Soulrender

Borderlands 3 Soulrender Legendary assault rifle.
  • Added in the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC.
  • Spawns homing skull projectiles that deal x20 normal damage.
  • Skulls deal splash damage.

Soulrender is one of the few weapons that many players don't mention too often. This weapon was added to DLC 2 and can spawn from Tom and Xam. This pair of enemies are located near the final boss of the DLC.

This weapon lets loose homing projectiles in the shape of purple skulls that deal tons of splash damage. This can devastate enemies within the area of the explosion. Every vault hunter can benefit from this weapon, but it is best suited for Moze.

9 Ion Cannon

Borderlands 3 Ion Cannon
  • Added in the Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot DLC. Only found as a guaranteed drop via the respawnable boss Fabricator in Jack's Secret.
  • Needs to charge up before firing.
  • Can come in any of the elemental damage types.

The Ion Cannon is another weapon added during the Moxxi's Heist DLC and fires a massive laser that deals tons of damage. While the damage on this weapon can vary, it most noticeably does over ten-thousand damage with a good chance to spawn with a damage multiplier of two.

When used with an appropriate build, this rocket launcher has the potential to cause mass destruction and can easily deal more than a million damage. This is one of the most damaging weapons in the game and can even one-shot boss enemies.

8 Free Radical

Borderlands 3 Free Radical Legendary pistol
  • Added with the Director's Cut DLC. Dropped from Hemovorous the Invincible(Darkthirst Dominion), The Seer (Desolation's Edge), and Beef Plissken (Karass Canyon).
  • Always comes in the shock element.
  • Every hit spawns a homing projectile.

The Free Radical has become one of the most used guns in the game, thanks to its high damage output and good rate of fire. Whenever a target is hit with one of this gun's projectiles, it spawns additional homing projectiles that hit the target as well. In most cases, these projectiles won't even hit the target before it is dead.

The extra projectiles do come in great use whenever a player is going up against a boss.

7 Complex Root

Borderlands 3 Legendary Complex Root Sniper Rifle
  • Added in the Bounty of Blood DLC, and has an increased chance to drop from respawnable mini-boss Lani Dixon in Ashfall Peaks.
  • Fires a shot that takes a weird path once it hits the target.
  • Bullets explode after a short while and deal splash damage.

The Complex Root was also added by the Bounty of Blood DLC. It is a Maliwan sniper rifle with impressive damage numbers. The only downside to this gun is the long charge time, but it is worth it for the damage it can cause. The Complex Root's special ability makes the bullets ricochet off enemies and then move around in, as the name suggests, a complex path that hits enemies multiple times.

Each bullet explodes after finishing its route and can cause massive damage that can even reach into the millions. This sniper rifle will work well on Moze, due to its explosive potential and splash damage.

6 Monarch

Monarch borderlands 3
Monarch borderlands 3
  • Added in the Mayhem 2.0 Update. Dropped by the Sera of Supremacy in Ture Trial mode or Killavolt (Mayhem 6 or higher).
  • Fires 3-10 bullets for every 1 ammo consumed.
  • Bipod mode doubles the gun's damage.

The Monarch is finally an assault rifle worth using. It has the potential to deal massive amounts of damage and is a favorite for fans who play on mayhem level 10.

This weapon always spawns with a bipod which, when used, doubles the gun's damage. One of the reasons it is able to cause so much mayhem is thanks to the fact it fires between three to ten bullets for every one ammo consumed.
