Blumhouse can always be counted on for entertaining new horror releases, and the teaser for the upcoming movie Wolf Man is now here.
After watching the teaser, it's clear that Wolf Man will be one of the best movies released by Blumhouse thanks to its creepy and evocative setting, twisty plot, and talented stars Julia Garner and Christopher Abbott. The movie is based on the 1941 movie, which is also called Wolf Man, and is directed by Leigh Whannell. The screenplay is by Whannell, Rebecca Angelo, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Corbett Tuck based on a story by Tuck and Whannell.
The Wolf Man teaser begins with a creepy close-up of bugs in a forest and reveals a scary story about what seems to be an animal let loose in a town, along with the family who has to try to survive. A young girl asks, "Daddy? Are we gonna die?" Which is extra terrifying considering how young she is. While her father Blake (Christopher Abbott) says "No, it's my job to protect you," it's clear that survival isn't guaranteed for any of the characters... Especially since Blake is the Wolf Man in question.
From the recent horror movie Afraid which has a new take on AI to Get Out and the Paranormal Activity franchise, Blumhouse can always be counted on to release creative remakes, eerie supernatural stories, and slashers. The Wolf Man remake features a family on a vacation that goes horribly wrong from the start. Charlotte (Julia Garner) and Blake go to a cabin in the woods, which is classic horror movie imagery for good reason, along with their daughter Ginger (Matlida Firth). Blumhouse's impressive track record with a supernatural high school tale like Unfriended and the campy, entertaining eerie doll movie M3GAN proves that Wolf Man will be just as fun. Wolf Man also has a sweet kid who can tell that her dad is acting strange, which will definitely add to the sense of unease and terror throughout the story.
In 2021, Collider interviewed Jason Blum about Wolf Man, and it's interesting to reflect on his words. Blum said:
"Wolfman, we are also working on the script, got to get the script, right. In that case, it's Ryan Gosling not Scott Cawthon. But working on trying to get a script that he feels good about and comfortable about and excited about."
Wolf Man has experienced many changes since 2021, including a new main actor, a new director, and even a new release date. In December 2023, Entertainment Weekly reported that Gosling left the project and Abbott would be playing the main role instead. While Abbott played Charlie Dattolo in Girls, he also starred in the horror movie Possessor.
While Wolf Man was originally going to be in theaters in October 2024, Variety reported that the release date was delayed. Check out Blumhouse's Wolf Man on January 17th, 2025 and start the new year off on a scary foot.
