There are dozens and dozens of floorplans in Blue Prince, but players aren't stuck with the default versions of all Blue Prince rooms that they can use at the start of the game. The game features a hidden floorplan upgrade system that players can use to add beneficial effects to rooms in their drafting deck.
Blue Prince: How To Solve Dartboard Puzzle (Billiards Room)
In the Billiards Room, you will find a Dartboard Puzzle that doesn't involve actually throwing any darts.
To upgrade rooms, Blue Prince players must find an Upgrade Disk and a Terminal – Upgrade Disks are relatively rare, though, and it can take a long time to upgrade every floorplan in the game. This guide details how to upgrade floorplans in Blue Prince, describes some Upgrade Disk locations, and offers some examples of the types of effects you can get by upgrading rooms.
How To Upgrade Rooms In Blue Prince
To upgrade rooms, Blue Prince players will need to find two things: a Terminal and an Upgrade Disk. Terminals can be found in the Office, the Shelter, the Security room, and the Laboratory. Of these, the Shelter is the only room that does not require a Gem to enter.
Once you have found an Upgrade Disk location, Blue Prince players should bring it to a Terminal. A special prompt will appear as you look at the Terminal. Insert the Upgrade Disk, and the computer will automatically select one room from your catalogue of floorplans to upgrade. You cannot choose which room is upgraded, the selected room is always random.
You will then be shown a list of three options to upgrade the room to. Some upgrades will add items to the room, or increase the number of items that the room normally includes. Others change what rewards you get, or provide a special effect.
The first time you upgrade the Courtyard, for example, you will be offered these choices:
- Rewards +2 Gems
- Includes 5x Dig Spots
- CORRIYARD is always left unlocked
Once you make your choice, all Courtyards in all future runs will include your selected bonus – the Corriyard replaces the Courtyard in your drafting deck in this example.
Blue Prince: How To Get Gold Coins
Gold Coins are needed for purchasing items in Blue Prince, so you will want to keep an eye out for them while exploring.
There are a lot of enhanced effects that come from upgrading rooms. The more room upgrades you get, the more efficient you will be (and the more resources you will have) as you delve further into the Mt. Holly Estate.
Where To Get Upgrade Disks In Blue Prince
In Blue Prince, Upgrade Disks can be found in a handful of locations, typically associated with computers and technology. You will often find Upgrade Disks in secret areas and within special containers like safes, too.
So far, we have found Upgrade Disk locations in these rooms:
- The Office: on the main desk, conveniently located right next to a terminal
- The Garage: in the trunk of the car. You will need to find the Car Keys to unlock the main door and trunk
- The Great Hall: locked behind one of the seven locked doors in this room. Take a Lock Pick with you to save some Keys
- The Foundation: on a box in the underground area of this room, accessible via elevator
- Her Ladyship's Chamber: On the beauty desk by Her Ladyship's Diary
There are likely other rooms that contain Upgrade Disks in Blue Prince. This guide to upgrading rooms in Blue Prince will be updated as we continue to cover the game's many secrets.
