Several floorplans throughout Blue Prince will give players a unique bonus or access to a feature that can only be activated within that room. The Laboratory is one of these rooms that is home to a Terminal, several notes, and a particularly tricky puzzle involving the Periodic Table and nearby levers.

To upgrade floorplans, Blue Prince players must find an Upgrade Disk somewhere on the estate and bring it back to a Terminal.

While drafting the Laboratory, notice that the room description says it allows you access to "House Features." In Blue Prince, Experiments can be initiated only in the Laboratory, and it's worth learning how to Experiment (and what possible combinations you can create) to gain beneficial bonuses from this mechanic.

How To Create Experiments In Blue Prince

To create Experiments, Blue Prince players must draft the Laboratory, a room that requires one Gem to create and comes with two doors. Inside the Laboratory, you will find one of the four Terminals that can spawn in the Mt. Holly Estate – the others can be found in the Security room, the Office, and the Study.

This Laboratory Terminal grants unique access to the Experiments mechanic. Here, you can set up the trigger and effect for an Experiment, which grants a unique House Feature effect.

To initiate an experiment, Blue Prince players must access the Terminal in the Laboratory (just opposite the Periodic Table lever puzzle) and select the "Experiment Setup" option. The following screen explains the basic premise of the Experiment system. Click "Continue with Experiment," and you will see two lists: one for triggers (left) and one for effects (right).

Think of it like an If-Then statement – if you achieve the trigger on the left, then the effect on the right will proc.

Both lists are randomized and will provide a variety of useful House Feature bonuses that last for the day. These bonuses are not permanent and will reset if you Call It A Day.

  • In the Select [A] column, choose a mechanic that you think you will be able to trigger.
    • For example, if you have a Shovel, you should choose triggers associated with digging up Dirt Patches, or if you have an Archive, select a trigger that benefits from drafting Archived rooms.
    • You can sometimes choose "Immediately" instead of a regular trigger, which immediately grants the effect you choose. This can only trigger once.
  • In the Select [B] column, select the effect that will trigger from your set Column [A] selection.
    • If you are low on Keys, choose an effect that will reward you with Keys. If you need more Gold to buy necessary items or are running low on Steps to continue through the manor, choose these effects.
    • You can also gain Ivory Dice, spawn Locked Trunks, and create many other effects.

To tell the time and date, Blue Prince players must use their wits to calculate the day Simon started his expedition and look for clocks.

Once you have selected your trigger and effect, click the "COMBINE" button at the bottom of the screen. Exit the Terminal, then the Experiment will begin. For the rest of the run, when you fulfill the trigger requirements, you will automatically get your chosen effect.

At any time after initiating an Experiment, Blue Prince players can open up the Blueprint Map with the TAB key and reference the current Experiment on a green sticky note. If you want to stop or pause the Experiment, log into the Laboratory Terminal again and select "Pause Experiment".

set your dice to 2.

Whenever you draft an "archived" floorplan,

add a small chest to the Entrance Hall.

Whenever you spend 2 or more gems drafting a room,

lose 10 steps and gain 20 gold.

For each Bedroom you draft after your second,

a letter will be delivered to the Mail Room.

Whenever you draft a Shop room,

gain 3 gold for each Red Room in your house.

The next 3 times you open a locked trunk,

set your dice to 2.

When you draft a Red Room, lose 5 steps, then,

set your steps to 40.

Each time you find some trash while digging,

permanently add 1 gold to your Allowance.

While drafting, if you draw a DRAWING ROOM floorplan,

gain 1 key for every 2 Hallways in your house.

When you draft a Hallway from another Hallway,

gain +1 star.

Every time you access a different Terminal today,

permanently increase your Lockpicking skills.

Each time you unlock or bypass a security door,

remove a crate from the Tunnel.
