In Blue Prince, if you have a lot of Gold, you will have more to spend at Kitchens for Steps, Commissaries for special items, and other Shop rooms that can give you a leg up. One of the best ways to get more Gold for every run is to increase your Allowance.
Blue Prince: Should You Make a Wish?
Making a wish might not get you better luck in Blue Prince, but it can aid you in the coming days.
Increasing your Allowance in Blue Prince will give you a set amount of Gold to start the day with. To get more Allowance, and find more Allowance Token locations, follow this guide to learn four methods you can use to boost your starting Gold each day.
Solve Secret Puzzle Boxes In Special Rooms
One of the first ways to get more Allowance Blue Prince players will come across is the puzzle box in the Trading Outpost. Also called Mora Jai puzzles, these small boxes can be found in a handful of locations throughout the game. Each box features a 3x3 grid filled with colored tiles – but the tile colors and what each tile does when clicked are unique to each puzzle box.
Your goal with each is to align a certain color with the corners of the grid. If you solve one, it will open and reward you with an Allowance Token. In Blue Prince, Allowance Tokens increase your starting Allowance each day by 2.
You can find Allowance Tokens in puzzle boxes contained within these rooms, and likely many others:
- Trading Outpost
- Master Bedroom
- Tunnel
- Closed Exhibit
Look Behind The Statue In The Cloister
Normally, the statue in the Cloister floorplan, and the central green, is blocked off from all sides with short walls. However, if you can get into the inside of the Cloister, Blue Prince players will be able to grab another Allowance Token.
Blue Prince: How Long To Beat
The Blue Prince game length depends on how long it takes you to solve the game's many mysteries and perplexing puzzles.
To open the inner Cloister, you must click on the bottom of each pillar near the doorway that the statue is facing. This will lower the wall, granting access to dig spots, Gem flowers, and the statue. Look behind the statue on the pedestal to find an Allowance Token, which grants an extra 2 Allowance, and a note.
Open Deposit Boxes In The Vault
The Vault is a high-cost room at 3 Gems that rewards players with 40 Gold and a chance to open one of the many Deposit Boxes. Blue Prince players can find secret Deposit Box Keys in a few ways, but most commonly from dig spots.
Each Deposit Box key is associated with a different number box in the Vault, and some contain Allowance Tokens in addition to Gold and other narrative and puzzle leads. The Vault is a rare room, so be sure to store any Deposit Box Keys you find in the Coat Check room if you do not draft the Vault on the same day.
Conduct Experiments That Reward Allowance
Arguably, the most efficient way to increase your Allowance in Blue Prince is to conduct Experiments. Experiments can be initiated in the Laboratory via the room's Terminal, a feature that does not not require the Terminal Password. Here you can choose from a list of three random Triggers and Effects.
If the right side column has an option to increase your Allowance, it means that your Allowance will be permanently increased if you trigger the selection you made in the left column.
For example, you can increase your Allowance if you choose a Trigger that procs every time you dig up something of no value, every time you open a Locked Trunk, or every time you draft a Red Room.
There are a lot of options to choose from, so choose the Trigger you think you will be most likely to achieve multiple times in the same run. Choosing the Trigger that procs the Effect every time you open a Security Locked door, for example, can be an incredibly good way to increase your Allowance if you have a Keycard and set the Security level to "High".
