The celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the BLEACH anime continue, with a brand-new "panning trailer" released to VIZ Media's official YouTube channel on Sunday, after the dazzling trailer released following the airing of the first episode of the third cours of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood Wa r, which gave us a taste of what the BLEACH series could be like if the earlier arcs received the Thousand-Year Blood War treatment.
With the third cours of the Thousand-Year Blood War adaptation underway, and the Rebirth of Souls game on the horizon, BLEACH fans are in a very good place. The panning trailer gave special focus to the major antagonists faced by Ichigo Kurosaki over the course of the series.
The "Panning Trailer"
Exactly What It Sounds Like
The trailer released this past Sunday is dubbed a "panning" trailer because that's exactly what it does. Rather than the full animation we saw in the 20th anniversary trailer from a few weeks ago, this is a sparsely animated set of moving images and effects set against the upbeat vibe of the Thousand-Year Blood War remix of Ichigo's theme song. The characters included in the trailer were five major "antagonists", or characters with whom Ichigo has clashed swords, and had a huge impact on his journey over the course of the narrative.
Like the trailer released before it, the panning trailer has fans begging for the original BLEACH series to get a remake in the style of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, but there has been no word of that being the ultimate goal for Studio Pierrot and its brand-new subsidiary, PIERROT FILMS. The panning trailer was posted to YouTube with the description, "Ignite your soul with timeless BLEACH memories in this 20th Anniversary trailer!"
The third cours of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War, subtitled "The Conflict", premiered on Saturday, October 5, a year after the airing of the second part subtitled "The Separation". The third part continues the incredible resurgence of the BLEACH anime with stunning visuals and major strides forward in direction, and as a result of its resounding quality, fans are hungrier than ever before for a complete overhaul of the original anime which had suffered immensely as an adaptation at the hands of Studio Pierrot. Each cours in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc is set for 13 episodes, with a total of 52 episodes.
