Like the story in Blades of Fire, it is steel that drives protagonist Aran de Lira and provides him with the strength to defeat his enemies and the monsters that roam the lands controlled by the tyrannical Queen Nerea. The wicked Queen has cursed all steel, turning it to stone, making it useless to everyone except her army. Aran can forge his own steel in his quest to kill the Queen, but the weapons can be used in battle a finite number of times. Thankfully, Aran's weapons can be recycled when they can no longer be repaired or traded for better materials if they've gained enough fame and reputation.

Where to Find the Seneschals In Besacarr Hamlet in Blades of Fire

The Seneschals in Blades of Fire are statues that grant weapon upgrades for Aran de Lira; here's how to locate all of them in Besacarr Hamlet.

When Can You Start Earning Weapon Reputation?

Weapon fame and reputation aren't earned at the start of the game, you must progress through the story more to gain access to the mechanic. Aran de Lira can start to earn weapon reputation after finding an ancient Master Forger, a seemingly grumpy old woman called Glinda, in the Kar-Lethel Swamps. Glinda will run away in their first encounter after opening the gate in the Hollow Plains. Aran must work his way through the swamps until he reaches the Angel's Cliff Anvil in the southwestern area of the swamps.

A cutscene that introduces Aran and Glinda will play until they get interrupted by the Queen's Hounds. Kill them and approach Glinda again, and she will grant Aran the power to interact with the Blue Ladies to open new pathways to the Crimson Fort and summon the birds of the forest to report Aran's actions in the field so his weapons can gain reputation points and fame in Blades of Fire.

How To Gain Reputation In Blades Of Fire

Blades of Fire earning reputation for weapons

Even though Aran has been granted the ability to earn reputation for his weapons, it isn't fully explained how to do it. Thankfully, the method of earning reputation is tied to the number of enemies Aran kills on the field and how he kills them. Aran can gain weapon fame with the following steps:

  • Finishing attacks performed by holding down the attack buttons to decapitate an enemy at their weak point will earn more fame.
  • One-hit kills from the front or behind on one or two enemies at once will gain more fame. Greatswords like the Claymore are perfect for one-hit kills.
  • Killing multiple enemies with the same weapon earns more fame for the weapon.
  • The weapons seem to gain a reputation faster by killing powerful enemies like Trolls, Elementals, Carmine Sentries, and Vermillion Nurses.

Aran's weapons will initially be labeled as "ordinary." As they gain fame, their classifications will change to "common," "known," and so on.

Once Aran has gained a reputation for the weapons, fast travel back to Glinda's house and trade them in. Make sure you're getting the full use out of the weapon before trading, as the weapons will be permanently removed from your inventory for the materials.
