Blades of Fire does not use a conventional leveling system. Instead, players can use runes to enhance the protagonist Aran's stamina and health bars. However, Aran's true strength comes from the steel he forges into weapons. To create these weapons, Aran needs to gather as much iron and other materials as possible to craft more advanced steel versions.
Fortunately, players can start farming iron and other valuable materials early in the game, allowing them to craft weapons that are significantly stronger than Aran's starting sword. This guide will outline the best early farming spots for iron in Blades of Fire.
Blades Of Fire: How To Unlock More Weapon Scrolls
To forge new weapons in Blades of Fire, players need to obtain Forge Scrolls; here’s how to unlock Forge Scrolls for new weapons.
How to Farm Iron and Materials in Blades of Fire
Unlock the Longspear
There are two reasons to fight and kill the spearmen in the Besacarr Hamlet: they carry the most armor with potentially more iron drops and other valuable materials like Petrified Tips, Accursed Flesh, Amber Fairie Wings, and coal. More importantly, killing ten of them with Adso nearby will unlock the Longspear Forge Scroll. The Longspear is the best weapon to farm iron from the nearby area in the south called The Hollow Plain.
Always ensure that Adso is with you to record your kills. Without him, you won't be able to unlock the Forge Scrolls.
Spearmen Location
The majority of the Spearmen are found near the gate that leads to the Crimson Rift. Fast travel to the Dry Riverbed Anvil and head west to the gate. Kill the spearmen with the Hyssop; their heads are exposed, and you'll be able to sneak up on the first one near the gate. Rest at the Anvil and repeat the process until you unlock the Forge Scroll for the Long Spear. Use the best quality steel for the slashing mechanic.
Kill The Undead Putrids In The Hollow Plain
Once you have forged the Longspear, you need to head south to the Hollow Plain area and slaughter the Claymore-wielding undead in massive numbers. They'll go down with one swing of the spear; you don't need to waste stamina, and Aran is vulnerable to attack with long hits, so use faster chain attacks. Some undead can drop around 100 iron each and 300 coal.
- The undead are easy to kill, but they can overwhelm with large numbers, and one swing from their Claymore causes massive damage.
- You should also be wary of the Marauders using invisibility and waiting to ambush you in The Hollow Plain. They're fast and dangerous, but a well-timed swing from the Longspear will make short work of them. They also drop a fairly decent number of materials, but are harder to kill than the zombies.
- When you've cleared the area, rest at the Kar-Lethel Wall Anvil in the south and restart the process.
Defeating more than 60 Putrids not only allows Aran to collect a significant amount of Iron, Coal, Accursed Flesh, and Petrified Tips, but it also unlocks the Claymore Forge scroll, which crafts a powerful Greatsword and is one of the best heavy weapons in the game.
In addition to defeating enemies, make sure to smash all breakable items in the game, such as barrels, crates, pots, tables, and more. This will help Aran gather more Iron and Wood for use in the Forge of the Gods.
