A world of myth and secrets leads Yaga on a search for her lost sister in Blacktail. The village's accusations push the young girl to embark on a journey to prove them wrong. Yaga is allegedly a witch who kidnaps the village children and kills them with her witchcraft in Blacktail.
The girl’s journey begins in the wood after a disturbing dream. Upon exploring the wood, Yaga encounters many enemies and has to complete various tasks to catch the wandering Spirits, which have her lost memories. Therefore, saving is crucial to avoid losing progress as Yaga unlocks new parts of the map or defeats a difficult enemy in Blacktail.
How To Save Progress In Blacktail
To save progress in Blacktail, players need to offer the Shrine a Red Herb. Saving is crucial in the game since it’s dependent on players and not done by the game automatically. Blacktail only auto-saves in three cases; the first is after a cutscene in the main story, the second is when they quit the game from the menu, and the third is when Yaga fast travels to The Hut.
The saved files can be found in the main menu, and players are free to load any save they want from the load option. Also, when Yaga offers a Red Herb to a Shrine she will re-surface at the same Shrine when upon death.
Where To Find The Red Herb
The Red Herb can be collected from the wood’s grounds and is mostly found near the Shrine. At first, players won’t be able to collect more than eight Red Herbs but as they upgrade their inventory capacity they will be able to carry more. Red Herbs are not only used to pay respect to the Shrines, but they are also a key ingredient to most craftable items in Blacktail.
How To Use The Shrine
The Shrine is a wooden statue that players can pay their respect to save in Blacktail. It is found all over the map and is represented by a tiny Shrine icon on the map, so it is easy to spot. Usually, right next to every Shrine, the Black Cat will be present to teleport Yaga to The Hut in an instant. The latter is where players can enhance their Skills, place their collected Toads statues, and even where Yaga can feed the Black Cat a fish to pet it.
In case of sudden death during an exploration session without saving, all progress made will be lost, so be sure to frequently save at nearby Shrines. All the explored nooks, defeated enemies, and opened chests will be restored to their previous state. Also, players should not save while poisoned, as they will stay in that state after being resurrected at the Shrine in Blacktail.
Blacktail is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
