The third chapter of Black Myth: Wukong has the protagonist reach The New West. After escaping the Pagoda Realm and exploring the Valley of Esctacy, players will have to reach the final area of this chapter.

Monk from the Sea is one of the bosses accessible after reaching the New Thunderclap Temple. The boss uses his tentacles to deal with severe damage and freezes the player frequently. Finding and trying to beat him can confuse some players, so this guide includes all the information for Monk from the Sea.

The boss fight is optional, but players must defeat him to acquire the Transformation.

How To Find Monk From The Sea

Firstly, you must reach the New Thunderclap Temple. From the Longevity Road Keeper's Shrine in Valley of Esctacy, head straight towards the statues and head right. Follow this path until you spot the entrance of the Temple and a glowing orange thing beside it. This is the Captain Kalpa-Wave boss, and after you have defeated it, head inside to find the Keeper's Shrine on the left.

From the Temple Entrance Keeper's Shrine, turn right and follow this path. It would be best to head left up the slope when you reach the blindfolded enemy carrying a rock. Upon reaching the end, head right up the stairs and head left upon seeing a gate you can exit through. You can spot a stone slab slightly to the left past the gate. As you approach the slab, the Monk from the Sea will leap from the hole, starting the boss fight.

How To Beat Monk From The Sea

As the fight starts, the boss usually begins with his three-hit combo using both tentacles. The attacks are somewhat delayed and can cause the Chill Bane effect. Another attack involving his tentacles is when he flaps his tentacles from side to side, dealing severe damage upon hit. If you find yourself considerably close to the front of the boss, he will use the tentacles on his chest to attack you, knocking you back a small distance.

One of his attacks to watch out for is when he stands on tentacles, and the cold air swirls around him. When you see this, try to get some distance from the boss as he slams down on the ground. Finally, there is the attack where he hurls a giant snowball at you, followed by smaller snowballs if you get closer to him. These can increase the chances of freezing you very quickly. If you get frozen, mash the dodge button to get out.

You can equip the Frostsprout Twig for this fight, a Curio that moderately increases Chill Resistance. This is acquired after the boss fights with Captain Lotus-Vision.
