Published and developed by Chinese studio Game Science and based on the classic novel Journey to the West, Black Myth: Wukong will put players in the role of a monkey-like warrior known as the Destined One, who is tasked with traveling the land and battling monsters using his trusty bo staff and mystical powers. Black Myth: Wukong was first announced back in 2020, with various trailers and new information being released over the past few years in the build-up to its eventual launch.

Black Myth: Wukong would finally get an official release date of August 20 during WeGame 2024 in May. The nearly four-year-long wait for Black Myth: Wukong is almost over, and the game’s official Twitter account just posted an update stating that it has officially gone gold. For the uninitiated, "going gold" means that all development work is complete and the title in question is ready to be released. The message also revealed that a new Black Myth: Wukong trailer will be released on August 8 at 10 AM Beijing time (10 PM Eastern Time, 7 PM Pacific). The developers thanked players for their patience during Black Myth: Wukong’s long development cycle and expressed hope that everyone will be able to experience the game without spoilers.
