Black Myth: Wukong has four slots for armor, with there being various armor sets to choose from. There is no limitation to how you can mix and match armor pieces, though there will be additional rewards for wearing partial or complete armor sets.
Some individual pieces of armor have unique effects that further add to unique armor builds. As you progress through the game and reach various milestones, you'll be able to craft new armor pieces and sets; here are some of the best ones to look out for in chapter one and two.
Black Myth: Wukong - How To Get Yaoguai Cores
Yaoguai Cores are key items needed to craft stronger weapons in Black Myth: Wukong; here's how to get them.
Best Early Game Armor Sets In Black Myth: Wukong
There are three armor sets players should keep their eyes on once they are unlocked for the first couple of chapters in the game: Gale Guardian, Dance Of The Black Wind, and Evil Crasher. All of which are crafted at a nearby shrine using materials such as Silk.
Dance Of The Black Wind Armor Set
This set is a bit more niche than the other options, and will heavily rely on the use of the Cloud Step spell. This armor set also only has three pieces, leaving your headgear available for any other option without messing with the set bonus:
- 3 pieces equipped = While in Cloud Step, black wind will attack nearby enemies.
This armor set incentives players to take their time in Cloud Step, which is great for defensive players who would rather watch their enemy's movements and plan for an attack before rushing in. The additional damage from the black wind is useful, but will rely on players to prioritize that spell.

Gale Guardian Armor Set
This set focuses on player's getting perfect dodges, which is already your main method for avoiding damage. While getting the timing down may take some getting used to, landing perfect dodges will quickly become the norm in combat, letting players full take advantage of this armor set bonus:
- 2 pieces equipped = Perfect Dodges grant additional focus
- 4 pieces equipped = Perfect dodges slightly reduce cooldown on all spells.
Since dodging and trying to get perfect dodges is already something players will be doing, this armor set simply builds on that basic playstyle. The cooldown on spells is a massive help on some of the longer cooldowns, and the additional focus helps power up your hard-hitting stance attacks mid-battle.

Evil Crasher Armor Set
The Evil Crasher armor set focuses on the Immobilize spell, which is already one of the best spells players have access to. While this armor set will rely heavily on that spell, it takes a powerful spell and makes it even stronger with its set bonus:
- 2 pieces equipped = Deals additional damage to enemies when crashing them out of immobilization.
- 4 pieces equipped = Upon crashing an enemy, massively reduce the cooldown on Immobilize.
While this armor set will need players to learn how to recover mana, the Immobilize spell is worth the focused attention. Bonus damage and making the cooldown shorter makes this the ideal armor set for the bosses in Chapter one and two, and even further.
