Why did Black Clover Go On Hiatus?

The Anime Had Caught Up To The Manga

The Black Clover anime was quite a hit show. In fact, the Black Clover anime even went on to deliver 170 episodes. The anime, adapting Yūki Tabata’s manga, started airing back in 2017 and ended in 2021. However, the story is not done yet.

Many fans might now be wondering why the Black Clover anime even stopped in the first place. The answer is quite simple; the anime caught up to the manga and lacked content to adapt, so the studio animating it, Studio Pierrot, chose not to create filler content and just come back to this project once the manga racks up more chapters.

Now, four years after the hiatus, the manga does have more content, but it also struggles due to the creator’s own hiatuses. Nevertheless, the manga is in its final arc, and it’s simply a matter of time before Tabata concludes his story. In that sense, the anime will be able to conclude the story properly as well.
