A new Black Adam trailer was released at San Diego Comic-Con, and the latest preview from Dwayne Johnson revealed that Viola Davis will reprise her role as Amanda Waller from The Suicide Squad.
Black Adam will center on Johnson's Teth-Adam, an anti-hero who was bestowed with the powers of gods only to be imprisoned for 5,000 years. However, once Black Adam is freed, he prepares to unleash his powers onto the world and bring his own brand of justice, which brings him into conflict with the Justice Society of America.
During Warner Bros.' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Johnson and members of the Black Adam cast and crew arrived to discuss the film. As to be expected, a new Black Adam trailer was released for the crowd, and the footage confirmed that Davis' Amanda Waller will appear in the film, though details on what role she will play in the story remain unknown. However, the footage seemingly shows Waller at the Justice Society's base. While this trailer does not appear to have been released to the public at this time, another preview was shared online that focuses on Black Adam's war against the JSA, concluding with footage of him fighting Hawman and wasting no time by using his electric powers against the hero.
Henry Cavill was rumored to appear at Comic-Con, but this did not appear to be true, as the Man of Steel actor was notably absent from the Hall H panel for Warner Bros. Still, the hero still came up during the conversation when a fan asked Johnson if he felt Black Adam could beat Superman in a fight. "Depends who plays Superman, Johnson said in response. Another humorous moment occurred when Aldis Hodge revealed that he nearly lost the role of Hawkman because when he received the phone call letting him know he landed the part, Hodge didn't believe that was really Johnson on the other end of the line.
As far as fans know, Black Adam will primarily consist of new DC characters, so to see Amanda Waller appear will likely excite fans given that she is a central figure in The Suicide Squad. After all, if Waller can appear, then perhaps fans one day will get to see their Black Adam and Superman fight on the big screen.
Black Adam is scheduled to release in theaters on October 21, 2022.
