Fans of first-person games have plenty to look forward to across most genres in 2026 and beyond. Horror fans can look forward to Crisol: Theater of Idols, which looks like a cool nightmare this side of Bloodborne. Judas looks like a good atmospheric supernatural thriller. Halo: Campaign Evolved looks great as a co-op shooter experience, and the list goes on.

7 Big FPS Games Officially Coming In 2026

Beyond Halo: Campaign Evolved, there are some other great shooters coming in 2026 to satisfy FPS players.

First-person RPG fans have plenty to look forward to, and that’s not just including the teasers Bethesda is throwing out about Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls 6. Hopefully, some of these come out sooner rather than later, but altogether, they look diverse and fun. Some of these examples could have more RPG elements than others, and could even shift perspectives, but all five games are unique and not just the same types over and over again.

Mundfish made their grand debut with Atomic Heart in 2023, a project that took six years to come out after the initial announcement trailer in 2017. It can easily be described as a bigger homage to BioShock, complete with a similar series of upgrades players can make to their character and their weapons. It took place in a dystopian future with high-tech gadgetry stuck in the past, with the Soviet Union now as a dominant power. It was a unique idea that Mundfish is keeping for the sequel, but they are going to double down on the RPG elements. So far, there has only been one trailer, and it was just a teaser for what’s to come.

Based on this teaser for Atomic Heart 2, it seems like it will be in first-person again, and the set pieces are off the chart. There will be guns aplenty, from rifles to pistols, all with different ammo types or effects. There are plenty of varied locations, from towns and labs in the mountains to chasing down robots in watered valleys. There are a number of things in the trailer that could have been made just for the trailer, or they could tease gameplay elements. This includes a wheeled mech which can turn into a car, a grappling hook, parachuting, wall running, and psychic powers. Even if the game is disappointing, no one can deny that the world-building in this trailer is wicked.

Clockwork Revolution is being developed by inXile Entertainment, a legendary RPG maker that has been around for decades. They haven’t made anything majorly new since 2020, most notably with Wasteland 3, which is to say it seems like this game has been cooking for a while. First revealed in 2023, Clockwork Revolution’s 2025 trailer showcased a myriad of gameplay elements. Visually, it looks like a steampunk-era London, but with an alternate history design. Talking dolls and robots weren’t really around in the 1800s, as one example. As for the gameplay, players can create their character and build up their background, besides their looks.

5 Biggest Upcoming PlayStation Exclusives Coming Before May 2026

These upcoming PS5 games will be out before the end of Spring 2026. Will they end up being contenders for Game of the Year?

Players can customize their weapons and make dialogue choices, which will presumably shape the story, but the coolest gameplay feature teased is time. Players can use their gauntlet to do various time manipulations, like recalling bullets after killing an enemy, or stopping an object so that they can pass through. Even death seems like it can be avoided, but there are presumably limits to these powers. Time mechanics aren’t new for RPGs, but on top of everything else, Clockwork Revolution looks beyond promising. If it can deliver on what is promised, this could be as popular on the scale of Baldur's Gate 3.

Fatekeeper will be the first game from Paraglacial, so it’s hard to gauge quality at this time. That said, THQ Nordic is publishing it, so at least they have a big publisher responsible for franchises like Saints Row and Darksiders. Fans of 2025’s The First Berserker: Khazan may enjoy this game, as the hero is slow-paced but powerful, and the design looks like Blasphemous but in 3D. Players can equip all manner of weapons from swords to axes to clubs, and they can dodge and block attacks.

There is a magic system, a skill tree, and an equipment menu. And more already shown, along with puzzle elements. Two example spells include being able to grab objects or enemies to then toss them, or being able to blast things away with a gust of wind. One of the strangest features of the game is that the protagonist talks, and he has a rat companion. Both will chatter as players explore, so the narrative will indeed play a central role beyond the brutal action. Whether players like talking or not, it can always be muted to focus on the action.

Neo Berlin 2087

An Upcoming Cyberpunk Rival

  • Developer: Elysium Game Studio
  • Publisher: Elysium Game Studio
  • Planned Release: TBA
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X

CD Projekt Red has teased the idea of another Cyberpunk 2077 game, and there are rumors about Deus Ex returning as well. For those who want a cyberpunk game in the near future, they should pay attention to Neo Berlin 2087. This is another game that got a reveal in 2023 under a new studio, Elysium Game Studio, and each new trailer looks promising. One noticeable thing is that players can engage with first-person or third-person perspectives, and whether that can be switched all the time is unknown.

10 Nintendo Switch 2 Games That Are Confirmed (But Don’t Have A Release Date Yet)

Will these Switch 2 games be released in 2026, or will they be delayed?

In a big expansive city, players can explore, talk to NPCs, and of course, shoot to their heart’s content. There are futuristic rifles and pistols, along with grenades. Players can be stealthy too with silenced weapons, a knife, and even brutal takedowns from above. There is even a bullet time feature, and that could only be one example of the powers players can control in the game. Can it surpass Cyberpunk 2077 or Deus Ex: Human Revolution? Only time will tell.

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S

There are Soulslikes for most sub-genres out there, from pure action RPGs to open-world games to turn-based affairs. Valor Mortis is an exceptional example of a first-person game that will hopefully come out in 2026. Unlike most other examples, this is being led by a well-established studio, One More Level Spolka Akcyjna, which also made the fast-paced Ghosterrunner games. So, they at least know how to handle action in first-person, but they need to prove themselves in the RPG and Soulslike department, too. Taking place in what seems to be an alternate version of France around the 1700s or 1800s, players will leave their soldier brethren who started transforming after an unknown incident.

They are becoming monsters, brooding hulking versions of their former selves. Gunplay seems to be a major factor in taking enemies down, but there are also melee weapons, like swords, which can parry attacks. Other mechanics include learning paranormal powers from diseased corpses, like breathing fire with one’s hand. Hopefully, the difficulty balance will be there for players new to Soulslikes who prefer more RPG offerings to challenge levels. At the end of the day, Valor Mortis could make the idea of first-person Soulslikes more popular, like how Elden Ring brought forth the idea of merging with open-world games.
