On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, anime streaming giant Crunchyroll simulcasted Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Stairway to Adulthood alongside its Japanese broadcast on Tokyo MX, BS11, and Tochigi TV at 10 p.m. JST (8 a.m. EST). The two-part special ended in the announcement of a Kaguya-sama: Love is War film for which creator Aka Akasaka has purportedly worked on an entirely new story concept, describing it as “new, but nostalgic.” This film is labeled the anime’s “Final Chapter,” and both its title and release date have yet to be revealed.

A-1 Pictures’ Kaguya-sama: Love is War returned after three years with a brand-new story. Several previous staff members worked on the new special, with Shinichi Omata, also known as Mamoru Hatakeyama, once again serving as director. Through a ten-second announcement video, the confirmation that a “Final Chapter” Kaguya-sama film is currently in the works was made. No further details were shared beyond asking fans to stay tuned for more updates. The description also states that Akasaka’s work will be a completely new movie version.
The Kaguya-sama: Love is War manga was first published in 2015 and has tens of millions of copies in circulation. It is available in English from Viz Media, and it tells the story of the student council president and its vice president, who secretly like each other but are too proud to admit their feelings, instead spending their time plotting to make the other confess first. The manga officially concluded in 2022, with mangaka Akasaka announcing he was shifting focus from illustrations to writing new stories for other manga.
