February will be 2026's first big month for gaming, and it is absolutely jam-packed with thrilling releases that could and should be amazing. More often than not, sequels and remakes dominate the discourse, which is especially true for a month featuring Dragon Quest, Nioh, and Resident Evil. These projects are likely to overshadow everything else, but the upcoming month will also mark the arrival of entirely new IPs that have the potential to be incredible. Seriously, do not sleep on February 2026's new games, as they could end up being something special.
Let's highlight 5 titles that will be coming very soon, with all of them having confirmed release dates for February. The goal is to cast a relatively wide net in terms of genre and playstyles, just to try and include something for everybody. More importantly, all these games are originals in the sense that they are not sequels or remakes. That said, one of them is part of a huge franchise.
How does one measure an upcoming game's hype? While my personal excitement level plays a part, I've also used Steam Charts' Most Wishlisted Upcoming Steam Games as a reference. Also, while these games look great, quality cannot be guaranteed until they are released.
I've included honorable mentions, along with a section dedicated to February 2026's sequels and remakes, at the end of the article.
1 Reanimal

Reanimal looks phenomenal. Tarsier Studios created something special with the first two Little Nightmares games, which blended accessible puzzles and simple platforming with ambitious world-building and intimidating enemies that leaned into horror. The upcoming game seems to be cut from the same cloth as its spiritual predecessors, just with the training wheels removed and a greater willingness to terrify players. Little Nightmares is creepy but rarely scary; going by the demo and available footage, Reanimal is willing to cross that threshold.
All Big Upcoming PS5 Games For 2026 & Beyond
From JRPGs to platform, racing, and open-world titles, here are all the big new PS5 games releasing in 2026 and later.
Designed specifically around two characters, Reanimal supports 2-player co-op, although solo players should still be able to play the campaign without any issues. Tarsier has kept story details under wraps for the most part, but we do know that the protagonists are orphans who must travel across a Lovecraftian hellscape in search of a better life. Exploration also seems to be a relatively big part of the package, as the game's main path does not tell the full story.
2 Menace
Best New Game For Strategy RPG Fans (Who Want To Manage A Squad Of Space Marines)
Menace

- February 5, 2026
Strategy games are the definition of an acquired taste, and major releases can completely fly under the radar if you are not tapped into the genre. Menace has been gathering hype for quite a long time due to being a tactical RPG from the same team behind the well-liked Battle Brothers. A single-player outing that casts you as the leader of a Marine Corps tasked with traveling to different worlds to take on alien threats, the game delivers turn-based strategy and squad management.
The campaign's launching point is that you are the captain of a warship that has been cut off and stranded in a solar system, and your goal is to spread order, repel enemies, and eventually find your way back home. Along with resource management, Menace is structured around operations, which involve linked missions that must all be completed. The game emphasizes pre-operation planning and intel gathering, both of which will greatly determine how a combat scenario plays out. If you are remotely into strategy and tactics games, I recommend keeping Menace in mind.
Try out Menace's demo if you are on the fence.
3 Romeo Is a Dead Man

Grasshopper is back! Suda51 is fairly well known in certain circles, with his games having a campy B-movie charm that warrants looking past their flaws. No More Heroes and Killer7 are legendary, and Lollipop Chainsaw, Shadow of the Damned, and Killer is Dead are good fun. As Grasshopper's first fully new release since NMH3 in 2021, Romeo is a Dead Man has all the makings of a modern cult classic, at least going by the available information.
Combining hack-and-slash action with third-person shooting, the game should deliver fast-paced and satisfying combat, all presented with style and gore. The premise is vintage Grasshopper, as it involves a Space-Time Police force, missions across a cosmos, and a protagonist searching for his girlfriend, along with character designs that look awesome. While Grasshopper fans definitely do not need to be sold on Romeo is a Dead Man, all action fans should have this game on their radar.

Each year, a few multiplayer indie games blow up on Steam, taking the gaming world by storm in a way that puts most AAA titles to shame. 2026 has yet to spawn one of these projects, but YAPYAP might get things started. Partially thanks to a demo, Maison Bap's magical co-op game garnered attention and momentum towards the end of 2025, setting the full release up for a strong debut. The demo is no longer available, but the game revolves around wizards, aka players, invading towers to cause as much chaos and damage as possible, before hightailing it out of there. Naturally, towers have their share of creatures.
Upcoming 2026 PC Games: Big Releases To Indie Darlings And Steam Early Access
PC players have hundreds of new Steam games to look forward to in 2026. We are talking basically every genre imaginable.
YAPYAP's most interesting element is its spell-casting, which involves using your voice. This is a fantastic idea that has a lot of potential, as long as the game is relatively flexible in reading vocal inputs. Beyond that, YAPYAP does not seem to have much of a story, with matches revolving around missions. This could aid replayability, as long as the core gameplay loop is sound.
5 Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown
Best New Game For, Well, Star Trek Fans (Or General Sci-Fi Fans)
Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown
Display card community and brand rating widget Display card open critics widget Display card main info widget- Released
- February 18, 2026
- Developer(s)
- Gamexcite
- Publisher(s)
- Daedalic Entertainment
- Genre(s)
- Strategy, Roguelike, Science Fiction
- Platform(s)
- PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch 2
OK, here is the one February 2026 game that is part of a big franchise. Star Trek needs no introduction, and we get new games relatively frequently; however, Voyager-based titles are very rare, and Across the Unknown could very well be the biggest-ever release tied directly to that series. Although Gamexcite is not a particularly well-known studio, Daedalic Entertainment has published its share of greatness over the years, including 2023's Barotrauma, another survival strategy game.
Unlike that (fantastic) title, Across the Unknown is single-player and story-driven, casting you as the U.S.S. Voyager's captain who must manage his personal and the ship at large, all the while making difficult decisions. Telling a "What If" situation, this game is primarily for die-hard Trekkies, but it could still hit the mark with people craving a sci-fi game that blends deep ship management, exploration, and ship combat.
