Elden Ring was released in 2022 to immediate acclaim, following the Tarnished in the Lands Between on a quest to become the succeeding Elden lord. The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was released in June 2024, and the scale of the DLC content was so vast it was nominated for Game of the Year. It was recently confirmed how many playable characters and bosses there are in Elden Ring Nightreign, the anticipated multiplayer set in the same universe, after the 2025 release was one of the most surprising announcements at The Game Awards 2024.
