Much of the content in Battlefield 2042 is locked behind an XP-based leveling system, and while this isn't exactly new to the series, this game's approach to leveling and unlocking items is a little different compared to its predecessors.
Simply playing matches and doing just about anything in BF2042 is going to net players XP, but for those who want to level up as quickly as possible to get the best weapons, equipment, and battle pass rewards, this might not be the most ideal thing to do. Luckily, there are a few things in the game that players can use to boost their XP gains significantly.

Best Account XP Farm in Battlefield 2042
During the game's earlier days, players could farm AI in Portal servers to level up at insane speeds. This can no longer be done due to XP caps and XP gain limitations, but we'll get back to this later. The best way for the average player to level up in BF2042 is to play Support on Breakthrough games.
The Support class in nearly every Battlefield game is great for farming XP because of the nature of its role. Support players in Battlefield 2042 in particular can do pretty much everything except vehicle-related tasks. They can heal, resupply, revive, spot enemies, provide smoke cover, and, of course, take out enemy players.
Many of the weapons in BF2042 are unlocked by leveling up, but a good chunk of the arsenal can only be obtained by completing challenges.
The best character to use for farming XP in BF2042 is Falck with the following loadout:
- Weapons of choice
- Ammo Crate
- Smoke Grenade
Falck's Syrette Pistol lets her heal allies even without a Med Crate or Medical Pouches, which means she can take an Ammo Crate instead. With this in mind, to get as much XP as possible, stick to the frontline and focus on your teammates.
Earning Ribbons in BF2042 is also a great way to get big chunks of XP. You can get them by doing the following:
- Objective: Follow orders and complete round objectives.
- Combat: Score kills and destroy vehicles.
- Wingman: Perform assists of any type (kills, revives, smoke, etc).
- Logistics: Heal, resupply, and repair allies.
- Intel: Spot and disrupt enemies.
One thing all new Battlefield players should know is that Revives are worth the same amount of XP as Kills. If you revive a squadmate, you get more XP than usual.
What About Portal?
The amount of XP you gain in Portal mode differs depending on the lobby you join. If a room is marked with a Moderate XP tag, then the XP you can get from there will be limited. Meanwhile, a room with the Full XP tag will reward you with normal amounts of XP. Matches with bots usually have the Moderate XP tag, and ever since Portal XP farms were nerfed, farming them isn't recommended unless you want less stressful matches.
Best Battle Pass XP Farm in Battlefield 2042
Leveling up your battle pass isn't as simple as leveling up your account. While you gain progress for both as you gain XP normally, you can only unlock items from the pass by getting battle pass points.
Battle pass points are obtained by reaching certain XP thresholds — these get higher as you gain points via XP. The most reliable way to progress your battle pass is to complete weekly challenges. Play well while doing these objectives, and you'll burn through your battle pass before it expires.
