Summary
- Dauntless: Offers a similar art style to Fortnite but with Monster Hunter gameplay.
- Realm Royale: Provides a unique, goofy experience with chicken transformation.
- Fall Guys: Fun party-focused battle royale with a different gameplay style.
While it may not quite be at its peak anymore, there is no denying that Fortnite is still one of the most popular games out there. It still offers exciting moment-to-moment gameplay, plenty of modes to choose from, and to top it all off: it's free. This has created a recipe for success that has seen players continue to return to the game for years since its release. Plenty of players still love certain aspects of the game but have gripes with other parts that have caused them to avoid playing it.
Fortunately for those players, there are a ton of different games out there for players to discover so that can give them the experience they are looking for without having to deal with the issues that keep them away. Some of these give their own twists on the formula as well, and there are some that are just flat-out better than others. Here are the best games for players looking for the Fortnite kind of experience.
Fortnite: 12 Best Creepy Skins in the Game
Fortnite's selection of cosmetics has something for everyone, including terrifying skins fit to star in nightmares.
8 Dauntless
Familiar Art Design
Dauntless
- Looks similar to Fortnite.
- Plays incredibly well.
Many people might expect to see only battle royales on this list, but this entry proves that wrong. Dauntless is not a battle royale; it's actually a free-to-play Monster Hunter clone that gives players similar experience in a condensed form. However, it makes this list because of its art design.
This style is very reminiscent of Fortnite, which is more than enough to earn its spot on this list. Some people enjoy the art style of Fortnite, but don't like the battle royale gameplay. This is why they should give this game a shot. I t looks the same but offers a completely different — yet great — experience.
7 Realm Royale: Reforged
Have Some Fun
- Release Date: June 5, 2018
- Developers: Hi Rez Studios, Heroic Leap Games
- Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X/S
- Feels as goofy as Fortnite.
- Kind of feels like a diamond in the rough.
A lesser-known title on this list, Realm Royale: Reforged is a game that matches that same quasi-goofy feeling of Fortnite, but takes it to another level. Case in point: when a player is killed, they don't actually die. Instead, they turn into a chicken. If they survive long enough as a chicken, they will be brought back.
While that is certainly sillier than Fortnite, t hey're both more cartoony than other games out there. Because of this, players may want to take it to another level with this title. The only thing is that players have a limited time to play this game; it will be shutting down in February 2025.

- More of a party focus as opposed to the battle royale formula.
- Great in a group setting.
While most battle royales allow players to group up over online multiplayer, Fall Guys is great for doing that in person. With its emphasis on party games, this title is a battle royale, but it's done a little differently. It is a blast to play with friends and strangers alike.
Best Games To Play If You Like Fall Guys
Players who enjoy Fall Guys's unique battle royale experience should give these games a try.
It isn't going to give the typical kind of experience that players might expect from Fortnite, but it's a fun game that evokes some of that silliness that Fortnite has.

- Offers the simple battle royale formula that started it all.
- Slower-paced and more tense.
The game that started the battle royale craze has to be on this list. Even years after its launch, the game still provides one of the most authentic, lean experiences in the genre at no cost at all. It is not as colorful or fast-paced as Fortnite, but that's okay. It is a slower game that helps build even more tension.
It's a simpler version of a battle royale, which isn't a bad thing at all. Sometimes, players just want to dive into a match and get to shooting without having to worry about the extra things. That's exactly what this game does.
4 Super Animal Royale
Cute Violence

- There's something really entertaining about adorable animals shooting each other.
- Great to have humor with it.
Another different kind of entry in this list, Super Animal Royale is a fun title. Having 64 players as different breeds of animals, the game boasts an impressive list of weapons. Its top-down gameplay is a little simpler than other games on this list, but it's still plenty of fun for people to get into.
Furthermore, the art style is great to look at. It's bright and colorful, which is a great contrast to the violence unfolding on the screen. Not many people know about this game, and it's ready to have some more players diving in.
3 Hunt: Showdown
Bring The NPCs Into The Equation

- Offers a fun twist with PvPvE focus.
- A grittier-looking game.
Many battle royales use a vibrant style in their art design; Hunt: Showdown is a little different. It has a much gritter feel to it as its dark, swampy world evokes some horror. It gives the entire game a unique energy as players traverse its sinister map to try and claim victory.
Hunt: Showdown — Best Budget Loadouts
These Hunt: Showdown loadouts are perfect for players who don't want to overspend, but still wish to have a fighting chance.
This victory is also claimed differently from other titles, as the game not only pits players against each other, but also throws in some NPCs that make it a little more tense. Every match has players trying to take out a specific bounty, and once someone does, they are hunted by everyone else. Meanwhile, monsters lurk around the corners to get the drop on them. It's a refreshing take on battle royale that deserves a shot.

- Massive game lobbies
- Excellent gameplay
Despite what the community may say, Warzone is still a dominant competitor in the online multiplayer market. It offers massive game lobbies that are full of plenty of opponents to take on. It boasts a ton of different weapons and builds to offer players plenty of options in terms of playstyle.
People don't even need to purchase an actual Call of Duty title; they can download Warzone without having to spend a single penny. That's absolutely a worthwhile reason to give this game a shot.

Apex Legends

- Hero-based gameplay gives more strategy to every match.
- Possibly the best gameplay in the genre.
These kinds of lists are obviously subjective, but there are many fans that would agree that Apex Legends is the best of the battle royales. Even as many mechanics have changed over its life, the game still has, possibly, the best gameplay in any battle royale. It feels exceptional to play, especially as players get used to each hero and how they feel differently from one another.
Those heroes also offer an added strategy to every match, as players must find the best team rosters to offer them the best path to victory. Everything works together to create a game that is uniquely its own while still bringing that battle royale feeling to its matches.
