Boasting "Very Positive" reviews and hailed by many as one of the best new co-op games on Steam, Absolum announced a celebratory update set to launch on February 12, following the game reaching the stunning milestone of hitting 500,000 players. Absolum is available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, and fans who have been enjoying the vibrant roguelite beat-em-up can soon look forward to more action-packed content in the upcoming 1.1 update.
First released on October 9, 2025, Absolum sees players teaming up as a magical group of outcast heroes of Talamh, as they battle to reclaim the power of Sun King Azra and end his grasp on the world Absolum. Similar to other multiplayer roguelite beat-em-up games, Absolum features side-scrolling combat action and fantasy arcade vibes, with each of the playable heroes bringing their own unique fighting style. Galandra brandishes a colossal sword with necromantic powers, Karl swaps between an ancestral blunderbuss and his meaty fists, prodigy wizard Brome fights with mystical skill, and Cider displays nimble talents through every skirmish. The four heroes join forces on a quest to forge beyond unpredictable encounters and discover the secrets of Talamh, and the big 1.1 update is set to make their adventure even more thrilling.

What New Content is Coming to Absolum on February 12?
To celebrate its 500,000 player achievement, Absolum will be releasing version 1.1 for PC and consoles on February 12. The update, titled Threads of Fate, will add new challenges, corrupted biomes, upgraded mounts, and enhanced customization. New Mystic Ordeals will offer an extra challenge to end-game Rebels, with both official pre-made challenges and fanmade challenges available. Players can design their own Mystic Ordeals and share them with the community, creating endless possibilities for fans to hone their skills. Corrupted biomes will introduce stronger enemies and enhanced rewards for ambitious Rebels seeking a greater test of their talents. Additionally, new upgraded mounts will bring new abilities with harder-hitting punishments against the hordes of the Crimson Order. More options for skins and emotes for each of the leading heroes in Absolum will also be on the way, giving fans plenty of fresh features to look forward to.
One change that unfortunately will not be coming in the Threads of Fate update is the addition of Cross Play functionality. Players have been hoping for Absolum to add Cross Play, which allows fans on different gaming platforms to team up with each other, and while the useful co-op feature will not be included in Threads of Fate, the development team did reassure players that Cross Play is still being worked on and will be shared in a future update. A number of other multiplayer games with Cross Play have seen their player counts jump even higher, so Absolum will likely want to add the feature to reach its next big milestone.
One thing players have already noticed is the lack of any mention of bug fixes in the Threads of Fate update notes, which many fans were hoping to see. While Cross Play is certainly one of the most highly requested major changes to Absolum, a number of players are still keeping their fingers crossed for an eventual launch on Xbox consoles. Whether an Xbox version of Absolum will come with the future addition of Cross Play remains to be seen, and it would not be surprising if the team instead focuses on the needed bug fixes and other gameplay adjustments before focusing on Cross Play, an Xbox port, or other larger updates for Absolum. Interested fans can follow along for more future changes coming to Absolum, as well as other news on the latest co-op games on Steam.
