More evidence has emerged that the Silent Hill 2 remake may finally be coming to Xbox. The remake is one of the PS5’s best exclusive titles for the console, and since that exclusivity ended on October 8, Silent Hill 2 fans have been hoping for news of the Xbox release.
The Silent Hill 2 remake launched on the PS5 and PC on October 8, 2024, and was one of the fastest-selling installments of the Silent Hill franchise. The game has sold over 2.5 million copies and accounts for almost 25% of all Silent Hill sales over time. Now that exclusivity to PlayStation has ended, releasing the game to more platforms could see those numbers rise.
Silent Hill 2 Has Officially Been Beaten By a New Horror Game
A one-year-old record set by Bloober Team's critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake has been broken in a convincing fashion.
ESRB Lists Xbox as a Platform for Silent Hill 2 Remake
A search of the ESRB website for Silent Hill 2 now shows a new entry containing the rating summary for the Xbox Series platform. This is a major clue of the game releasing for the Xbox Series family of consoles. The anticipation of the Silent Hill 2 remake coming to other platforms has been high thanks to the end of the PC and PS5 exclusivity, and this new entry to the ESRB is adding fuel to that fire. As of now, there’s no entry for a Nintendo platform release.
Silent Hill 2 remake potentially coming to Xbox is good news for fans who have always wanted more options for the franchise on the Xbox. Konami had prioritized the PlayStation platform for years, so the Silent Hill 2 remake coming to Xbox could be a good sign that the publisher is starting to move away from exclusivity for the Silent Hill series. The successful release of Silent Hill f to multiple platforms suggests that gamers enjoy the psychological horror genre no matter the platform they play on.
While Xbox fans of Silent Hill may be celebrating the potential future release, those who have played it on PC and PS5 are still hoping for an announcement of the Born from a Wish DLC. Rumors of the DLC started to spread in June, but voice actor Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, who voiced Maria in the 2001 parallel story, commented publicly that she hasn’t recorded anything for the release. While her comments don’t dismiss the DLC rumors completely, it has kept fans of the series in the dark about updated content moving forward. Bloober Team has not commented on the Xbox or DLC releases.
