Power Rangers is one of the oldest and most popular American Tokusatsu series. The series is a direct adaption of the Japense Super Sentai franchise, but has a lot of unique personality as well. Over the many years the show has run, many incredible Rangers have taken control of the morphin grid. Several of these rangers have become synonymous with the show to the point that their legacy is nothing short of unforgettable.

Rangers like Flynn McAllistair and Jason Lee Scott are often considered quintessential examples of what a true Power Ranger can become. Several other Rangers have reached a similar legacy, but very few are so highly regarded. There is a group of select rangers that can be considered the best of the best, but the list is extremely discerning. Thankfully, these righteous Rangers will be remembered for the rest of time, at least in the series.

10 Flynn McAllistair Is a Fan-Favorite Blue Ranger

At first glance, Flynn McAllistair seems like a typical unassuming Blue Ranger. His endearing attitude would quickly win over fans, making him one of the most popular Rangers based solely on personality. McAllistair has always dreamed of being a superhero, but only truly gets the opportunity after becoming a Ranger. Once he achieves his dreams, he certainly doesn't waste his chance.

The Power Rangers have faced some fearsome foes over the course of the franchise, but these are by far the most formidable.

McAllistair performs the role of several previous Blue Rangers and is largely responsible for maintaining and upgrading the Power Rangers RPM Gear. Aside from his pervasive personality, the character's accent is a large factor in his popularity. His iconic delivery coupled with his unique tartan timbre has made him somewhat of a meme in recent years. This newfound popularity also saw a slight uptick in nostalgic fans revisiting the series.

9 Anubis Cruger Is the Leader of S.P.D.'s Earth Command Base

Power Rangers S.P.D.

Shadow Ranger featured in Power Rangers S.P.D.

Instead of there being one Ranger team in Power Rangers S.P.D., there are actually several. Above each team stands Anubis Cruger, who commands S.P.D's Earth Base. The incredible leader occassionally enters the fray as the S.P.D. Shadow Ranger. In his Shadow Ranger form, he is incredibly powerful and has access to one of the coolest designed morphs in the entire franchise. His alien physiology also gives him an advantage in battle due to his extended durability.

Cruger demonstrates some of the greatest strategy and combat skills of the series. When he finally enters the action, it becomes clear how he became the S.P.D. Earth Base commander. Some of his students arguably end up surpassing him, but that isn't until he becomes the Supreme S.P.D. Commander. His promotion is completely fitting, especially after his role in defeating Emperor Gruumm. He would also get access to the highly praised S.P.D. SWAT upgrade, but only in the form of tie-in toys.

8 Zayto Has the Most Roles out of Any Ranger

Power Rangers Dino Fury

Zayto

As far as Rangers go, Zayto has had an incredible amount in his relatively short amount of screentime. He is a key figure in leading the latest generation of Rangers to success, and wisely finds his successor in Amelia. Even after Zayto steps down as the Cosmic Red Ragner, he continues to help the team physically until becoming a Morphin Master.

These are the strongest characters ever to earn the title of White Ranger, granting them powerful abilities and making them formidable Power Rangers.

The Morphin Masters were only recently introduced, but they have been retroactively included over the Power Rangers entire career. The Morphin Masters are integral to protecting the entire Morphing Grid, so it makes sense that Zayto would join them after his death. He sacrifices himself for the safety of the universe and continues to aid the Power Rangers for the rest of his soul's existence; not even Tommy Oliver can make that claim.

7 Taylor Earhardt is the Only Yellow Ranger to Lead the Team

Power Rangers: Wild Force

Power Rangers Wild Force is one of the few series where the team has an existing history before the episodes begin. Before the Wildforce Red Ranger started leading the team, that role belonged to Taylor Earhardt. She is the only existing Yellow Ranger to ever lead the team and marks the pinnacle any non-Red Ranger can hope to receive. Many fans even believe she should've continued to lead the team after Cole Evans made his debut.

Taylor is exceptionally talented and skilled due to her military background. She created the literal Ranger rule book, and is one of the strongest second-in-commands the franchise has ever seen. Earhardt can be exceptionally strict, but that usually helps her bring the best out of her team. Even if she weren't a member of the Power Rangers, Taylor would likely be saving lives in some capacity.

6 Billy Cranston Consistently Helps Out the Rangers Even When He Isn't Morphed

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Billy Cranston

Billy Cranston is one of the smartest rangers in the franchise's history. He understands the morphing grid better than anyone. He can alter mostly alien-created Zords and gadgets better than many mechanically inclined Rangers ever could. He might not serve the Zeo Rangers as a fighter, but he helps Zordon and Alpha 5 keep house. Despite his limited time as a Ranger, he remains one of the most iconic Blue Rangers in history.

Without Billy, the Legend of the Power Rangers surely would've faded early. He remains one of the series' greatest unsung heroes. He might not be as strong as Jason or Tommy, but he doesn't have to be. Cranston would make one final appearance as the Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger in a recent special of the show featuring many classic rangers. Sadly, the actor would only leave the show after the abuse he felt at the hands of his costars.

5 T.J. Johnson Knows When to Lead and When to Follow

Power Rangers: Turbo

Power Rangers Turbo

T.J. Johnson is the perfect example of knowing when to lead and when to follow. He takes over as the Red Ranger for Tommy Oliver and was specifically chosen by Oliver to lead the team. However, Johnson would later defer his leadership to Andros and become the Power Rangers' Space Blue Ranger. Johnson performs extremely well in both roles and proves not everything is about leading a team.

Johnson, like many important classic Rangers, continues to make several appearances throughout the modern series. He fought in the Legendary War, and even makes several in-person appearances in recent reboots. He typically chooses to appear as the Blue Space Ranger, but there's always a chance he'll make a showing as the Turbo Red Ranger.

4 Jen Scotts Is Often Called the Best Pink Ranger of All Time

Power Rangers: Time Force

Jen Scotts

Jen Scotts of the Time Force Rangers is typically considered the most popular Pink Ranger of all time. She temporarily leads the Time Force Rangers after the apparent death of the original Time Force Red Ranger. She is a technical, by the book, thinker who always knows the exact right move to make. She even learned to work with Wes Collins as he became the second Time Force Red Ranger and would lead the team to its ultimate victory.

From the Mighty Morphin to Ninjas and Samurai, the best Power Rangers seasons offer great mecha action and awesome characters,

As Pink Rangers go, Scotts is easily one of the most competent. Her marksmanship is virtually unquestioned, and she continues to do her best for the sake of the team. She even sides against her former lover once he reveals himself as a danger to the team. She might not make very many appearances outside of her original series, but she remains a prominent part of the franchise based on her legacy alone.

3 Wes Collins Faces Much More Mature Themes Than the Average Ranger

Power Rangers: Time Force

Wes Collins

Wes Collins, the Red Time Force Ranger, is decidedly one of the most popular characters of the entire franchise. This is largely because of the adult subject matter that Power Rangers Time Force would cover and the complicated relationships he was allowed to have. He also has one of the coolest Battlizers in the entire franchise. Despite not always being sure of himself, he always knew he could rely on his team and performed wonderfully as the Time Force's rightful leader.

Collins has been in decidedly fewer reboots than many of his Ranger companions, but that likely has to do with the more mature elements of his series. Many younger fans might not have seen or been able to watch Power Rangers Time Force. Either way, he is many older fans' favorite ranger and one of the best Rangers in the entire franchise. Hopefully, the actor can make an appearance in the franchise's next significant reboot.

2 Jason Lee Scott is the Original Red Ranger

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers

Jason Lee Scott is the first Red Ranger and many would argue the first Ranger people think of when they think of Power Rangers. To outsiders, Scott has no competition as the greatest Ranger of all time and should automatically win the spot. He has some incredible power-ups for the time, and when he leaves, the next Red Ranger doesn't even lead the team to not confuse his legacy.

There aren't too many Purple Power Rangers in the franchise but these are the strongest of the bunch.

4

Scott would make his return as the Zeo Gold Ranger and would only retire after the powers did permanent damage to his body. Since then, he has made a fair few cameo appearances, both morphed and otherwise. It's entirely possible that Jason could be a larger part of the next reboot or the classic Mighty Morphin project allegedly planned for 2026. Sadly, there has been relatively no news about the project since rumors around it originally began.

1 Tommy Oliver Is the Longest Serving Power Ranger

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers

Tommy Oliver kicking a dinosaur in the face in Power Rangers Dino Thunder

Tommy Oliver is many things. He is the longest serving Power Ranger, the Power Ranger with the most colors, and the only Ranger who has kicked a dinosaur in the face while unmorphed. Tommy Oliver is just that guy. There really isn't any denying it, when it comes to the quintessential Power Ranger, no one really holds a candle to Tommy Oliver. He might've begun the series as a villain, but he has more than made up for it with his incredible amount of historic and heroic actions.

Tommy Oliver has been the Mighty Morphin Green and White Rangers, the Red Zeo and Turbo Rangers, as well as the Black Dino Thunder Ranger. There simply isn't a limit to his mastery of the morphing grid. He has experienced some of the coolest battles and transformations the series has ever seen, and it really isn't a question. Many fans cite Tommy's early appearance, or lack of later showings, reason to discount him, but he's one of the first to really go the distance as a Power Ranger. Without Tommy, the series simply would've ended after the Morphin seasons.
