There are some video games where players can play through non-lethally. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is a notable example of non-lethal gameplay, as players can subdue enemies with sleeping darts instead of resorting to lethal force. They can even recruit enemies, send them back to HQ, and then use them to create gear.

8 Best Games You Should Take Your Time Playing

It can be tempting to rush through these awesome video games, but they're much better when savored slowly over time.

Astro Bot is another fine example, as each level is filled with random bots to rescue. These are great rescue-type games, but not every player cares about being kind to their fellow man or bot. Some players want to cause chaos as much as possible without thinking of human life. This goes beyond enemies, too, as random NPCs can be in danger. These are the chaotic highlights.

Grand Theft Auto 5, or any Grand Theft Auto game for that matter, puts players in control of sociopaths. They can do anything they want to civilians, and there are consequences. For example, running over a pedestrian can get the cops out, whom players can run from or take on. Even with punishments, players still drive and walk around like crazed animals. It’s part of why this series has gathered such a fanbase ever since Grand Theft Auto 3 was released on the PS2 and revolutionized the open-world sandbox genre.

Prototype is one of the most chaotic superhero games to ever release. As Alex Mercer, players are cursed with a virus that gives them morphing abilities. He can sprout wings, run up buildings, turn his arms into blades, and so on. The military wants to cage him, but Mercer is having none of that, so he rebels. Players can eat random humans to regain health and retain their DNA, which can then help disguise Mercer in plain sight. This even works with soldiers to get into bases, and it’s an overall cool albeit diabolical system.

God of War was an intense game starring a vengeful man named Kratos. While Kratos’ main beef was with the Greek gods, he killed whatever monster or human came across his path. Fans can remember a particular soldier they had to sacrifice via flames to move on. It was unsettling and unjustified, easily making Kratos an unlikable character, and this was just the first game. Thankfully, the 2018 reboot games made Kratos at least redeemable.

Some players have a problem with the Pokemon series since they don’t think it’s right that Trainers can capture cute critters, Pokemon, to become their battle servants. Those who think that will really have a problem with Palworld, a popular Pokemon clone wherein players can catch monsters and put them to work on hard labor projects.

Best Relaxing Games For Anxiety

For gamers who get stressed when a video game cranks up the difficulty, these relaxing games are perfect for easing feelings of anxiety.

Even wilder, players can capture humans and then make them their servants. These are full-on humans too, not cyborgs, halflings, or anything like that. It’s pretty messed up, no matter how people feel about the monster-catching aspect.

Katamari Damacy is another seemingly cute game with a weird gameplay concept that gets darker the more players engage. As the Prince of the cosmos, players are sent to Earth to gather up random objects to then shoot into space to become stars. Players can roll up tacks, erasers, pens, animals, and even humans. Rolling up any living creature is odd, let alone the fact that these things will be sent into space to become stars. The Prince and his father, the wacky King of all Cosmos, don’t seem to mind, though.

Vampyr takes place in the early 1900s and, as the title suggests, centers on vampires. Players are a doctor, Jonathan, who gets bitten by a vampire, but decides to continue being a doctor to help people. Players can play the story nobly by not engaging in bloodlust, but this will make Jonathan weak. Instead, they can still care for their patients, but more in the way a farmer cares for his cattle, in the sense that players can take care of humans to feed off them. The more Jonathan feeds, the stronger he will become, giving players an incentive to be heartless.
