Ubisoft's Beyond Good & Evil sequel now officially holds the longest development period for a video game, with the first game in the series being an imaginative action-adventure title that is a blast to play through in every way. The story of the multi-talented Jade as she explores an amazing world while trying to uncover a pressing mystery makes for a great time indeed.
Many fans are disappointed about the development hell Beyond Good & Evil 2 is currently facing, but not all is negative here. The game's release may seem less likely now, but there are still many games with a similar vibe to the first game that fans can have a great time with.
8 The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Many people consider Beyond Good & Evil to emulate the gameplay of classic Zelda games in many ways. As a result, it's easy to see why one of the titles from this series can be an easy fit for fans of Ubisoft's action-adventure title.
The Wind Waker is considered by many to be one of the best games in the series along with Ocarina of Time. This title is obviously more modern and easier to get into, making it a great recommendation for any player looking to go through an epic adventure.
7 Okami
It's a shame that Okami ended up being a commercial flop, given how unique this title is. The idea of controlling a divine wolf and using a magical paintbrush to solve puzzles and battle enemies is a premise that's certainly out there, and props should be given to Okami for executing its concepts to a T.
There really aren't too many games like Okami, with its watercolor art style being another reason why this game is such a gem. Thankfully, word-of-mouth coupled with numerous re-releases has helped this title attain the fanbase it deserves... Even if the prospects of this title getting a sequel are slim to none.
6 Darksiders 2
Darksiders is a mature take on an action title where exploration is a huge focus. Despite their niche nature, many people are missing out on an excellent and unique title if they don't check out Darksiders and everything it has to offer.
Controlling the Horsemen of the Apocalypse makes for a great time, with the combat really conveying just how destructive these characters really are. The second game is considered by many to be the best in the series, with Death being a great and interesting protagonist who propels the story forward in an entertaining manner.
5 Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time
The Prince of Persia series has recently enjoyed a boost with the announcement of The Lost Crown, a new game in the franchise that is coming after ages. However, while this reveal was pretty interesting in its own right, many people still miss the 3-dimensional platforming trilogy that caused so many fans to get into this series in the first place.
The Sands of Time is still hailed by many as one of the greatest video games ever made, with a likable protagonist, great writing, and excellent combat really propelling this IP to new heights. Fans are very passionate about this game, and their uproar over The Sands of Time remake was so strong that Ubisoft scrapped this project entirely!
4 Psychonauts 2
Fans were glad to hear that the underrated platformer Psychonauts would finally get a sequel after ages. Razputin's journey through the minds of people made for a great experience, and the sequel aimed to carry forward this tradition by making things bigger, better... And funnier.
Psychonauts 2 is a rare case of a sequel being just as good as its predecessor, if not better! Razbutin gets to explore the minds of people once again, trying to figure out what exactly is going on in the heads of people as he strives to uncover a major conspiracy while learning more about his own family in the process.
3 Hollow Knight
Hollow Knight is considered by many to be the perfect combination of Metroidvania and Soulslike elements, making for a truly wonderful title that is brimming with atmosphere. Exploring Hallownest and seeing how it has been ravaged by the infection is truly brilliant storytelling in every way.
The combat in Hollow Knight is pretty challenging, and players need to be swift and effective in battle to even stand a chance of beating the many tough bosses in the game. The game is truly one-of-a-kind, and it's easy to see why fans are going rabid over the eventual release of Silksong.
2 Shadow Of The Colossus
Players who love environmental storytelling in video games will love what Shadow of the Colossus brings to the table. The game seems simple enough, with players having to hunt down monstrous Colossi while eating apples and hunting down lizards to improve their stats.
However, it's after a few enemies are killed that players realize that their task isn't as noble as they thought. Wander may have his heart in the right place... But the fact that he's willing to unleash a dark force on the world out of love isn't really all that justifiable, and has dire consequences by the end of the game.
1 God Of War: Ragnarok
God of War's reboot was a breath of fresh air, allowing Kratos to shine once again as a father who is trying to leave his violent past behind. While the first tale was a more personal one that allowed Kratos and Atreus to bond, the second game has a way bigger scope as the heroes try to band together and stop Ragnarok.
The game is truly epic, with all the realms unlocked and playing a huge role in the story. Combat is as crunchy and satisfying as ever, and the title will throw enough curveballs at the player to keep things interesting.
