There are still many new games coming in 2024, so it's highly likely that the list of 10 highest-rated games of 2024 will change within the next few months. For now, though, the 10 highest-rated new games of 2024 are Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Balatro, Tekken 8, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Solium Infernum, TimeMelters, Unicorn Overlord, Persona 3 Reload, and Dragon's Dogma 2.

The bottom five games all share an 88 overall rating, whereas the three titles ranked ahead of them have 90 overalls. Balatro has 92, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth reviews have helped it earn a 93 overall rating, making it the highest-rated game of the year to date. Critics praised Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's impressive graphics and combat, with some calling it one of the best Final Fantasy games to date.

Balatro has proven to be one of 2024's surprise hits. The unique Poker meets roguelike game has become somewhat of an overnight sensation, earning widespread praise from fans and critics alike. Tekken 8, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Dragon's Dogma 2 have also been quite successful, though the latter has been criticized for adding microtransactions post-launch.

Two Popular titles didn't make it to Top 10

Notably, two of 2024's most popular games did not crack the top 10. Open world survival game Palworld was a massive, record-breaking success upon its early access launch earlier this year, and Helldivers 2 has been a huge hit as well. Even though they didn't earn review scores quite as high as the other games listed, there's a good chance that they will also be getting some nods when it comes time to hand out awards at the end of the year.
