Dredge, the hit indie game that was widely regarded as among the best launches of 2023, has received a steep discount on the PlayStation Store, bringing the title's price down to its lowest point yet. A new paid DLC for Dredg e was released in August alongside a major update that delivered bug fixes and other tweaks to the game.
Powered by Unity, Dredge is a single-player fishing game that features Lovecraftian themes and concepts. The title, which was released in March 2023, was considered by many as one of last year's best releases. Those interested in Dredge but have yet to pick it up should probably do so now, as an ongoing sale has slashed the game's price to a historic low.
The Best Explorer Horror Games
Many players would agree that explorer horror games are among the best of their kind.
While it usually carries a $24.99 price tag, Dredge is currently $14.99 on the PlayStation Store thanks to a hefty 40% discount that lasts until September 4. This is the cheapest the game has ever been on any retailer. Dredge's lowest recorded US price on Steam, a platform known for giving generous discounts to other award-winning games, was $16.24, data provided by SteamDB showed.
Dredge Lowest Discounted Price
- $14.99
Dredge was only one of many titles that received discounts on the PlayStation Store as part of a sale centered around indie games. Other popular releases like the comfy farm simulator Stardew Valley and the vampire survival game V Rising that was ported to the Sony PlayStation 5 in June were also given significant price cuts. Bundles, expansions, and premium currencies for featured indie games are part of the sale as well.
The Iron Rig DLC for Dredge was released alongside the game's 1.5.1 update that went live on August 15. It is the title's second expansion, adding a host of new content such as a new buildable destination, side story, equipment, achievements, and more than 50 types of fish, among other things. The 1.5.1 update for Dredge addressed several issues, including one that caused save files to become overwritten if the game failed to load them properly. This latest build made various other changes as well.
Dredge is being developed by Black Salt Games, a studio based in New Zealand. The team was recently featured in a documentary produced by media company Noclip, which has covered other developers like Bethesda Game Studios, CD Projekt Red, and Valve in the past. A live-action film adaptation of Dredge is currently being produced by Story Kitchen.
