Attack on Titan is one of the most popular anime right now, and fans can't wait to see the final season reach its conclusion after years of wait. The news about this season being split into two halves hasn't been met with the most positive fan reception, but all will be forgiven if the animation quality justifies this long wait.
To call anyone an outright villain in Attack on Titan is hard because of how complex morality is in the series, with people on both sides having their mix of good individuals and bad apples. However, when anyone thinks about a villainous figure in Attack on Titan, then it's only a matter of time before the following names pop up in their mind.
10 Annie Leonhart
Annie served as a major antagonist in the first season of Attack on Titan, being outed as the Female Titan near the end. Her motivations were unclear then, since viewers weren't aware of the whole Marley-Eldia conflict until then.
While she has been absent for so long that her status as a villain has fizzled away, Annie's recent appearance means that she's going to play a major role in the war after a long time. Only time will tell if her interference bears any fruit in Attack on Titan.
9 Floch Forster
Floch has come out of nowhere to become an antagonistic figure in Attack on Titan. Shades of this were seen when he outright told the trio that saving Armin over Erwin was the wrong decision, since it led to many higher-ups of Paradis Island harboring feelings of resentment towards the group.
Over time, he developed a bunch of radical ideologies and decided to aid Eren in his goal for genocide. The manner in which this character twists his words makes him riveting in the final season. His villainous role lets him do most of the small things while Eren's appearance is reserved for bigger and better moments.
8 Reiner Braun
Reiner Braun is another conflicted figure who seems like a dastardly antagonist when people figure him out to be the Armored Titan. However, the guilt and delusion that plague his mind seem to suggest otherwise.
It's clear that Reiner is nothing more than a victim of his own circumstances, being thrust into war at a young age and unable to comprehend the realities of the shame. The atrocities he's committed end up taking a toll on his mind, and it takes his friends to pull him down from pursuing a drastic escape from this twisted world.
7 Kenny Ackerman
Kenny is a riveting character who serves as the captain of the Anti-Personnel Control Squad. He's a dastardly figure with ties to Levi that are explored after his death.
Kenny's wild nature makes him an entertaining antagonist. However, his importance dwindles over time to the point where he becomes nothing more than a nuisance, which serves as a real waste of what was a great introduction to this character.
6 Bertolt Hoover
Just like Reiner, Bertolt is another young individual tasked with the massive job of infiltrating Paradis Island to sow discord among the ranks and gain some valuable information. However, unlike Reiner, he refuses to get too attached to his "friends" and places Marley's goal above everything else.
His work as the Colossal Titan made him a force to be reckoned with, and watching both Eren and Armin subjugate him was a blast. Bertolt managed to be vile antagonist, and fans weren't saddened at all to see that he would be sacrificed so that Armin could live out his life once again.
5 Gross
There are a few characters in Attack on Titan who are downright heinous and have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Gross is one such character, who made himself public enemy number one after feeding Grisha's sweet and innocent sister to the dogs as a form of twisted entertainment.
His disdain for the Eldians gave him personal joy whenever he tortured one of them or transformed them into Titans. Watching Kruger push him off the wall to be eaten by the Titans he helped create is one of the most cathartic moments in the series.
4 Rod Reiss
Rod Reiss is the perfect depiction of what can happen to a person who prioritizes and idolizes royalty to an obsessive degree. In a bid to keep the Founding Titan's power within the family, he spearheaded a disturbing ritual that saw members of his family being sacrificed for what he deemed to be the "greater good."
At the end, Rod Reiss was nothing more than a person stuck in the past. While the Founding Titan's powers outside the royal family could not be activated, that still wasn't any reason for him to sink to the depths of depravity in a bid to retain this transformation.
3 Zeke Jaeger
Zeke Jaeger is one of the most interesting characters in Attack on Titan. Initially appearing as the cold and calculated Beast Titan, his reveal as Eren's half-brother shook the foundation of Attack on Titan itself to its very core.
His transition from being a villain to Eren's ally was fascinating to witness, especially when viewers finally got to see the hatred he harbored for Grisha. This is precisely what made his father's apologies so hard to witness — it shattered Zeke's resolve and gave Eren the upper hand in their conflict.
2 Eren Jaeger
Of course, this list would be incomplete without Eren. Attack on Titan's protagonist has gone through some serious changes and is now the biggest shonen villain in anime history.
The sheer number of atrocities he's committed make people genuinely question if this is the same Eren they knew and love. Hopefully, the final season will finally shed some light on this twisted plans and why he chose to go down such a drastic route.
1 King Fritz
King Fritz is the reason the entire world hates the Eldians. After stumbling upon the power of the Titans, he used Ymir like a tool to gain superiority over the lands and rule with an iron fist.
Even after saving Fritz from an assassination attempt, the king never cared for Ymir, and forced her daughters to eat her corpse in a bid to gain her powers. Each and every act he's done in the anime has been for purely selfish reasons, regardless of the casualties that could arise from the same.
