The ambitions of the ex-Ubisoft employees who founded developer Sandfall Interactive are clear as day, as their design choices are inspired, and they innovate on a genre that many thought was stuck in the past. There truly is nothing quite like Clair Obscur, to the point where most people are already considering it 2025's GotY, and some even placing among the best games of the generation.
The Alters
Narrative And Gameplay Work In Tandem In This Survival Sci-Fi Game
The Alters
- Released
- June 13, 2025
- ESRB
- Mature 17+ / Blood and Gore, Strong Language, Use of Drugs and Alcohol, Violence
- Developer(s)
- 11 Bit Studios
- Genre(s)

Fans who thought that 11 Bit Studios made games that were too hard after games like Frostpunk and This War of Mine will find The Alters to be refreshingly easy to get into. The survival mechanics and fun exploration aren't too overwhelming, and players will be able to comfortably move their base well before the game's impending deadline becomes too pressing to handle.
The selling point of this game is definitely Jan interacting with his alters, versions of himself from other dimensions who made different life choices, with the writing doing a great job of exploring the messed-up origins of each of their existences. By the time players reach the end of this incredible title, they'll form a bond with the Jans and actively root for a happy ending that saves them.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
An Impressive Sequel That Screams Kojima In The Best Ways
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
- Released
- June 26, 2025
- ESRB
- Mature 17+ // Violence, Blood and Gore, Partial Nudity, Strong Language
- Developer(s)
- Kojima Productions
Death Stranding 2 is a vastly improved sequel over its predecessor, with the technical excellence and engaging gameplay being in a class of their own. Now that fans had grown accustomed to the gameplay loop Kojima wanted to pursue in the first game, players had a better understanding of what to expect from this sequel, which gets things moving at a much faster pace and eases the difficulty curve to make for a more enthralling experience right off the bat.
That being said, combat options are also heavily expanded upon for players who want to play a title that feels like Metal Gear Solid 5, with Sam's arsenal being both more expansive and more creative than anything seen in the first game. This isn't a bad thing in the slightest, and giving players the freedom to pursue any playstyle they want makes Death Stranding 2 a standout 2025 title.

Fans were treated to yet another stellar co-op adventure with imaginative levels and excellent set-pieces that will keep them coming back for more, only this time, the story is less depressing, following a pair of rival-turned-friend authors as opposed to a couple going through a divorce.
While the story may not be anything revolutionary, the other pillars holding Split Fiction up more than make up for any narrative faults. Two players will love experiencing this magical title together and will get a thrill as they one-up their co-op partner in the game's many challenging minigames.
