Keplerth is an indie 2D sandbox RPG based around adventure and exploration. It’s an open-world game set on a sci-fi alien planet. Players must explore, craft, and fight if they are to survive. There are resources to gather, bases to build, animals to tame, farms to tend to, and creatures to combat, both on the surface and below. Players can modify their genes to create more elaborate characters and pick up hundreds of different weapons to customize their play style.
The maps for this game are randomly generated and there are multiple character races, making the game have a lot of potential for replay. Keplerth can be played solo, co-op, or with online multiplayer. The art style is reminiscent of RimWorld or Prison Architect. However, it is more similar in gameplay to something like Terraria, but with a top-down camera.
5 Plan Ahead For Combat
Fighting enemies gives players supplies for both food and tools. One way to make combat easier is to choose a race with bonuses to movement speed or health regeneration. With attributes such as those, players can kite enemies with more ease, inflicting more damage without taking as much damage themselves.
If a race without these traits is chosen, fighting can be made more manageable with weapons such as a bow for long-ranged attacks or a spear that has long reach for a melee weapon. The best way to be prepared for a fight is to bring a lot of food. Things like crafting don't drain hunger meters as much as gathering resources and fighting. Don't only bring a lot of food, but ones that can provide both hunger satiation and health regeneration.
4 Gather Tons Of Resources
There are abandoned houses, labs, and towns scattered around the world. These should be taken advantage of to save players the time and resources needed to craft such items. Players should explore the map initially to scout for such locations and bring all the resources back to their bases.
Even multiples of items can be useful. Items such as semi-broken armor or anvils can be melted down for metal at a furnace, and wooden items like workbenches can be burned as fuel. Don't forget to collect a few flowers as well because the more flowers there are nearby the more nectar is produced, and nectar is used for several things including making food and being sold for money.
3 Hoard Food Ingredients
Players should focus on gathering food as soon as possible and in as large a quantity as they can. Long trips exploring require a lot of food. The hunger system in this game functions similarly to Don't Starve. The best meals to make require multiple ingredients, so make sure to get a variety, such as meat, cherries, apples, mushrooms, and nectar. Don't forget to gather wood as well so there's fuel to cook with.
As well as hunting creatures, one of the most sustainable ways to get food is to grow it. When plants are broken, they have a chance to drop seeds. Players should plant apples and cherries as soon as possible. It's worth noting that farms can be made underground even.
2 Know Good Meal Recipes
Food is something every player will need to survive right from day one. Having food is useful, but making good quality food can turn the tides out in the world. Players can use a stove and experiment with making different dishes to eat, but some recipes should be known right off the bat because of how useful they are. However, many of the recipes have multiple ways to make them.
One of the meals to know that's good for long-distance trips because it sates hunger is the Big Feast. It's easily crafted early game because it only requires one meat and two fruits or two meat and one fruit. Another meal is Pie, which restores health and satiety by fifteen percent. Meatballs are made up of two meat and one egg, and they restore satiety while also decreasing hunger speed for a short time. Another is Fruit Salad, made up of an apple, cherry, and nectar, which is a great healing option. One of the best healing foods in the game is sweet soup. It's made up of three nectar and restores health over time. It can also be stacked with other healing effects.
1 Familiarize Yourself With Teleporters
Keplerth is an open-world game with many areas to explore. There are locations like towns and labs, open outdoor areas, and even a whole underground to explore. With so much to adventure through, players will want to loot items from all around. This becomes an issue since backpacks can only hold so many items. Players must either make several temporary bases or else move all the items they find back and forth to their home.
The easiest solution to this is the teleporters around the map. They are a convenient way to fast travel between locations. Players should find these and get them up and running as soon as possible. While it is nice to explore and experience the world, when it comes to hauling a lot of stuff back to base, it's easier to not have to walk back and forth a bunch.
