DOOM Eternal  can be a tooth-grindingly tough game at times, especially for players working through it on Nightmare mode, the game's hardest difficulty. One boss, the Gladiator, may prove to be a particular challenge for players battling through all of DOOM Eternal's  hellspawn, but there are a few tricks to crossing the Gladiator off of the Doom Slayer's hit list.

Partway through the fight, the Gladiator's shield will be destroyed, making it easier to damage but far more aggressive. In addition, the Gladiator will have a second flail, which will be used in a variety of its attacks. The Gladiator's eyes will sometimes flash green indicating when it is about to strike or charge, giving the player a good indication of when to keep moving. However, that flash can be hit or miss, so players will want to keep on their toes regardless.

Additionally, the Gladiator will begin spinning its flail and shooting energy balls at the player. They move fast, but can also be avoided by a quick dodge. Arguably the Gladiator's most deadly move, the demon will slam flails down on either side of the player, and shoot blasts at them. Those blasts, which will appear something like a wave line, must be jumped over to be avoided.

Most importantly, players need to remember to keep moving. Periodically, weak enemies will be summoned into the arena. Finishing these demons off with a glory kill or the chainsaw is a good way to regain health or ammo, respectively. That's a central aspect of not just this boss fight, but the game as a whole, and will make DOOM Eternal  take less time to beat.

Overall, the Gladiator is a pretty fun boss. It's a challenge without being overly difficult. Plus, the character's design is interesting, certainly one of the more appealing of the demons to look at. There's a lot of good stuff in the game ,  which may explain why DOOM Eternal got such good reviews.
