As promised, Battlefield V was given a spotlight at E3 2019's EA Play event. There was no sign of dinosaurs as was previously teased by the developers, but DICE did give fans a look at some major future content for Battlefield V, including the franchise's long-awaited return to the Pacific Theater.

The Battlefield V Chapter 5 update will do more than just add new maps set in the Pacific Theater. It will also add new cosmetics, weapons, and vehicles. More specifically, Battlefield V fans can look forward to more amphibious vehicles when the Chapter 5 update comes to the game this fall.

Meanwhile, some Battlefield V fans may be more interested in the Firestorm battle royale mode. Unfortunately, Firestorm wasn't given much attention at the EA Play event, but that doesn't mean that the mode is being abandoned by DICE. In fact, the addition of the Pacific Theater seems like the perfect opportunity to add a new map to Firestorm battle royale, but that's just speculation at this time.

It remains to be seen just how ambitious DICE will be with the Battlefield V battle royale mode. Firestorm was met with a great deal of enthusiasm at launch, but since then, it seems to have struggled to keep players engaged on a long-term basis. Perhaps this is why we didn't hear much about Firestorm at EA Play, and maybe it could be a sign that DICE will focus its efforts solely on the standard versus multiplayer in Battlefield V moving forward.

Whatever the case may be, Battlefield V fans at least have plenty of new standard multiplayer maps to look forward to later this year, including some set in the Pacific Theater.

Battlefield V is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
