EA released a new update for Battlefield 6, making continued improvements to the online shooter, while also bringing further tweaks to a pair of cosmetic outfits as well. Thanks in large part to strong word of mouth and well-received open beta tests during Summer 2025, Battlefield 6 enjoyed a massive amount of early success. With a more grounded style of gameplay reminiscent of previously beloved titles like Battlefield 3, many players felt like the franchise was back in a big way.
After a huge launch which helped Battlefield 6 become the best-selling shooter game of 2025, things have seemingly taken a turn as the game grapples with numerous controversies and player frustrations. In fact, the player base has seemingly dipped to alarming levels, with rival titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 starting to creep up on it. However, EA and Battlefield Studios continue to refine the experience through updates and new content, hoping that a spark can once again help the game get back closer to its launch level numbers.
Battlefield 6 Makes a Major Change to Fix BF Pro Bonus Path Progression Issues
Battlefield Studios releases a new Battlefield 6 fix for the recent progression issues stemming from the BF Pro Bonus Path rewards.
The latest update for Battlefield 6 has arrived and while it's not quite as big as some of the previous updates, DICE continues to refine the player experience through new quality of life improvements to core mechanics like player movement. Specifically, this update is targeting excessive sprint-jump momentum and unintended movement behavior, bringing those strange edge cases back in line. The patch notes have confirmed that this fix won't impact player movement "at a large scale" and is intended to prevent those edge cases from happening and potentially negatively impacting matches.
For many players, one of the bigger adjustments in this update comes with some cosmetics. Battlefield 6's Objective Ace and Winter Warning cosmetics are being tweaked to, what Battlefield Studios calls, "better align with Battlefield's visual identity." Unfortunately, no details have been shared about how the cosmetics have been updated, though both have seen a fair share of criticism online. The Objective Ace mask has been criticized for looking ripped from Activision's Call of Duty: Ghosts logo, while the Winter Warning banner looked like it was made with Generative-AI due to some oddities like a two-barrel gun and the placement of the person's hands holding it.
This isn't actually the first time Battlefield 6 has had issues with cosmetics, however. While EA and Battlefield Studios initially came out and rejected the idea of cosmetics and skins that don't fit the game, some previously released outfits have left many fans feeling like they've veered too far from the grounded realism aesthetic that the game was going for. Specifically, the Wicked Grin outfit in Battlefield 6 was deemed to be too colorful with bright blue accent colors, along with a mask that featured a toothy smile. Before long, the outfit disappeared from the game entirely, eventually reappearing with dulled colors and without the smile on the neck gaiter. While there was debate on whether the skin actually crossed any boundaries, some were worried that it could have been the start of a slippery slope for future outfits.
After delaying the start of Season 2 for Battlefield 6, there is hope among the community that EA and Battlefield Studios have used the extra time wisely to not only add highly requested content, but fixing many of the remaining issues. Either way, with a February 17 release date, players will need to wait a bit longer to see what's on the way.
