A leaked Battlefield 6 gameplay video reveals that players will have the ability to utilize thermal scopes, which should provide a significant advantage to those who prefer to take out their opponents from a distance. Early players have had a couple of chances to try out Battlefield 6 gameplay ahead of its upcoming launch, but the addition of thermal scopes may shift the combat dynamic in ways they've yet to experience.
The first new game in the FPS series in nearly four years, Battlefield 6 is set to release on October 10. Two recent open beta sessions have shattered previous franchise records, with concurrent player counts climbing to more than 500,000. While the open beta periods showed off nearly half the total number of maps that players will have access to at launch, the development team still has some tricks up its sleeve for October.

Battlefield 6 Thermal Scopes Revealed in Leaked Gameplay Video
A new video posted to Twitter by Battlefield 6 news account BattlePulse shows nearly a full minute of what appears to be in-game footage of a player taking on opponents with a thermal scope attached to their weapon. When zoomed in through aiming, the scope at the center of the screen displays the field of battle in grayscale, with human opponents and other heat-generating sources starkly contrasted from the background in a bright white aura. It appears players will be able to attach the scope to multiple Battlefield 6 weapons, as at roughly its halfway point, the video transitions between a shot of the player taking out enemies at range with a sniper rifle and darting through winding alleys for a more up-close approach with an assault rifle.
While thermal imaging has plenty of uses for locating opponents, its utility is most clear for snipers, for whom targeting enemies from a great distance is a must-have skill. The inclusion of the thermal scope would prove a huge boon to players who prefer to take enemies out from afar, and it would be particularly good news considering that while Battlefield 6 has toned down its sniper scope glint, the developers have no plans to remove it entirely.
There doesn't seem to be any official confirmation that the thermal scopes will be in the game at launch, but the leaked video looks quite convincing. Much more about the launch build of the game will likely become apparent when Battlefield 6 appears at Tokyo Game Show on September 26, with a planned presentation that is expected to focus heavily on the game's campaign mode.
