The Battlefield 6 Open Beta began on August 7 for those with early access, and then between August 9-10, anyone and everyone who had even a slight interest in the upcoming military shooter could hop in for free. Over the course of those four days, the Battlefield 6 Open Beta managed to achieve a peak player-count of 521,079, according to tracker site SteamDB. Half a million players for an Open Beta is an incredibly impressive feat, especially considering this figure doesn't include those playing on consoles.
The Battlefield 6 Open Beta has already done exactly what it needed to do, restoring fans' faith in the franchise while simultaneously introducing the best of the series' formula to a wave of new players. And this is only the beginning for Battlefield 6. A second Open Beta weekend is about to begin for Battlefield 6, bringing with it new modes, a new map, and even a handful of new rewards that carry over to the game's full release in October.
Battlefield 6's second Open Beta weekend begins on August 14 at 1am PT/4am ET and ends August 17 at 1am PT/4am ET. This second phase of the Beta will be open to all players from the start, with no early access period.
Everything Being Added in Battlefield 6's Second Open Beta Weekend
New Modes
Those hopping into Battlefield 6's second Open Beta weekend will find all of the modes included in last week's rotation, along with a handful of new ones, one of which long-time Battlefield fans will be very happy to see. The modes included in weekend two of Battlefield 6's Open Beta are:
- Conquest (Returning from weekend 1)
- Closed Weapon Conquest (Returning from weekend 1)
- Breakthrough (Returning from weekend 1)
- Domination (Returning from weekend 1)
- King of the Hill (Returning from weekend 1)
- Rush - Similar to Breakthrough in that teams are divided into Attackers and Defenders. Attackers need to plant explosives, while Defenders need to defuse them and reduce the opposing team's Tickets to 0
- Squad Deathmatch - Four teams of Squads face off in a deathmatch where eliminations equal victory
- Closed Weapon Breakthrough - The same rules as regular Breakthrough, but players can only use class-specific weapons
A New Map
Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, and Iberian Offensive are all returning for the second weekend of Battlefield 6's Open Beta. Joining them is a brand-new map titled "Empire State." Set in the streets of Brooklyn, New York, Empire State will see players engage in firefights across the iconic city.
With the addition of Empire State, the total number of maps available in Battlefield 6's Open Beta will be four. This is great for an early demo of the game, but it means there will be plenty of new content for fans to explore when Battlefield 6 launches in full, with the complete day-one roster containing nine maps in total.
New Rewards
The first weekend of Battlefield 6's Open Beta brought a total of seven challenges to the game. Completing each of these challenges would reward the player with a cosmetic item that will carry over to Battlefield 6's full release in October. The imminent release of Battlefield 6's second Open Beta weekend will add another three challenges to the game, each one also delivering a unique cosmetic reward:
- War Machine Vehicle Skin - Capture 42 flags in Domination, Conquest, or King of the Hill
- Bat Company Dog Tag - Get 200 kills or assists
- Striking Distance Weapon Package - Capture 10 sectors in Rush or Breakthrough
